Even the New York Times exposed Graham Platner’s allegations before a Maine elementary school

How much are Democrats willing to take to continue supporting Maine US Senate candidate Graham Platner?

So far, they have accepted that he has a Nazi tattoo. They accepted that he posted on internet sites in 2013 that rape victims should be held accountable and in 2020 they called rural Americans “stupid” and “racist.” In late 2019, he was sending that US Army Pfc. Ted Daniels, who was shot in Afghanistan, did not deserve to live with the Taliban. Regarding those words, he said, “I’m proud that I went through a dark period in my life, and I’m proud of the life I’m living now.” When did that dark age end, really?

In a story a few days ago, Platner’s wife told campaign staff that he had been sending sexually graphic messages to women as recently as last year and using the questionable messaging app Kik. Is that part of the dark ages too?

Now a New York Times story is revealing more about Platner’s personality and nothing good about it. The story itself is a very soft touch, just be careful not to say anything too bad about the potential Democratic candidate for the US Senate from Maine. But the fact that a liberal outlet decided to run the story at all is proof that there is something there.

DEMOCRATS ‘SELL THEIR SOULS’ TO ACCEPT PLATNER BACKED BY BAD RETURN WITH MAINE VOTERS: GOP MARKET

The Times interviewed several women, including Lyndsey Fifield, who dated Platner from 2013 to 2015. Fifield is specifically described as a “Virginia conservative who has worked for right-wing parties and Republican campaigns” as if that context meant his claims could be dismissed. You shouldn’t.

Fifield says Platner knew his tattoo had Nazi origins and, in fact, his unit chose that tattoo specifically for that reason. “Ms. Fifield said he told her that he and other members of his unit chose the painting because ‘they were like a death squad, not killers,’ and they saw similarities between their unit and the Nazi Schutzstaffel, or SS, unit, which used skull-and-crossbones imagery. ‘They literally chose it, on purpose, because it suited their army.'”

This is in direct contrast to the story that Platner has been trying to tell since October 2021, the same month he finally removed it, that he just got a good looking tattoo while on vacation. Fifield told friends about the Nazi tattoo in August. How would he know before he did that? The truth is he knew it was a Nazi tattoo all along and the Democrats stood by him.

GRAHAM PLTNER DENIES SHORING NEW REPORT ALLEGING ABUSE AS ‘NOT TRUE’.

Fifield also alleged that Platner often mistreated her. He is careful not to say that he hit her, “But she says that he used to grab her by the shoulders – sometimes hard enough to leave marks – and, on one occasion, he pulled her out of the taxi with his hand after an argument when she wanted to sit in the car. During the argument, she remembers, he twisted her arm behind her, put her in the room to get out of the room when she closed the door for him to leave where he told her. ‘calm down.’ Eventually, Ms. Fifield said, she fell asleep and left the next morning.

The New York Times calls this “unpleasant behavior” but in some cases it would rightfully refer to this as harassment.

Responding to the allegations, “Mr. Platner said he was ‘a heavy drinker, and was far from a perfect boyfriend’ during what he described as ‘the darkest period of my life.’

Perhaps it would be easier for Platner to point to a time in his life that was not a “dark age”.

The day before the Times story, Platner met with Democratic senators to assure them that there would be no more bad news about him. The Wall Street Journal reported, “Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who also attended the meeting, followed up by saying there is a big difference between marital affairs and allegations of sexual assault, the people said. Platner acknowledged and denied there were any credible allegations of assault coming forward.”

It’s sad that the Nazi tattoo and everything else isn’t enough for Warren to attract support, but it’s interesting that he would make such a question about sexual harassment. Platner’s response to the “credible” allegations makes it seem like he knows more stories may be in the works.

It’s early June and many bad allegations and details about Platner have already surfaced. The former has not yet happened. How much will the Democrats accept in the service of trying to defeat the most moderate Republican Susan Collins? Can they be sure that the New York Times story is the last after they have been assured that there will be no more? Or if they’ve decided they can’t accept a candidate with a Nazi cartoon that belittled rape victims and mocked military members in combat then there’s nothing they can’t accept?
