Game 4 NBA Finals betting turns to the prop market after sweeping the last two games of the series.

I find the narrative surrounding the NBA as interesting as the games and betting options. A lot of people who say they hate the NBA or watch it have opinions about what the players do. In the world of hot and flashy takes on social media, this is not surprising. People see one thing and make an impression of the whole world. If that’s you, I suggest you don’t bet on sports. While there is some benefit to trusting your gut, you really need to be a critical thinker. I’m trying to break down Game 4 and see what the best option is as the Spurs look to even the series with the Knicks.

I thought Game 2 was the best game for the Spurs. I think I was wrong considering they won Game 3. I’m wrong about a lot of things. This was a back-and-forth battle, and the final score showed a difference of just four points. However, there was actually only one quarter of the game in which the Knicks won. Spurs jumped out to an early lead. Then they returned it all (and then some) in a second. They won the third and fourth to make the series 2-1.

Being 3-1 down is not a death sentence. But, Spurs really need to avoid it. We know it’s still possible to win, but a 2-2 draw means they’re back home. Victor Wembanyama since the start of the second quarter in Game 2 has collected 54 points, maybe he has found something about the Knicks’ closeness to him. Maybe it’s because the Spurs shoot better at that time. I wouldn’t draw too many conclusions either way. Like most teams when the 3s fall, the Spurs are unbeatable.

You can say the same about the New York Knicks. I took them in Game 3 because I felt like they took the best shot in San Antonio, but maybe the hoopla surrounding the game was too much for them to overcome. Jalen Brunson was his usual self. Let me get this out of the way — he’s a dirty player, he’s a swimmer, but he’s a basketball rookie. He plays incredibly well from two feet, is creative with getting the shot he wants, and is fearless. These are the things you see when you watch a full game and not just a clip of him being pushed by Wemby.

Which, by the way, is also poorly defined. Brunson was holding Black’s arm and jersey. This is where he was pushed. It’s almost never a one-sided thing with any example. But, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a cheap shot or two at Wemby tonight. The Knicks really need to avoid that, though. They are in the driver’s seat. They are in the lead, having won two close matches. And now they just need to find a way to hit the ground running tonight.

If you’re a Spurs fan, say this series would be 2-1 in San Antonio. If you’re a Knicks fan, you say you can go up 3-0 without actually arguing against it. A true expert recognizes that this series has had two games that were toss-ups and one where the Knicks were better, for a long time.

New York will likely benefit from a shorter rotation. I get that their bench (and actually using it) helped get them here, but Mikhal Bridges played 29 minutes. Sure, he barely shot, but his defense is what keeps him out there. Josh Hart is playing well and in my eyes he needs 40 minutes. Bridges said he needs to play better, and I expect he will, but I’d be surprised if he gets 13 points. I’ll take less. I like the champions to do their thing tonight. Brunson and Wembanyama should both top their totals (27.5 and 26.5, respectively). I will always bet on the prop after getting my Game 1 win back.
