Philadelphia police released a video of two suspects wanted in the investigation into the murder of a Pennsylvania State University student who was returning from a party to watch the NBA Finals.
I Philadelphia The Police Department released a video after the killing of Billy Schmidt, 22, during an attempted armed robbery that took place on Saturday around 1:30 a.m. Police found a college student with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead at 1:47 am
Police on Wednesday night released a video of the two suspects in the murder and armed robbery of Schmidt, saying the two threw away their T-shirts and masks in the area of 22nd and Porter Street.

The shooter was described by police as a black male between 5’3″ and 5’5″ “wearing all black (black) clothing with a light gray face.” Officials said the person was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is described by police as 5’8″ with braids and “was wearing a light gray shirt emblazoned with the word “KONFUSED” with a design on the front consisting of three skulls and crossbones with a bejeweled halo above each skull.”

Investigators say Schmidt was on his way home from watching the NBA Finals with his friends when he was robbed around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
A previously released surveillance video appears to show Schmidt saying, “Give me my phone” as he chased the suspects. It was seen that the phone was thrown to the ground, after a few seconds a gunshot was heard.

Schmidt was a student at Penn State World Campus studying journalism, and was set to graduate in December.
His father, Bill Schmidt, told Fox News in an interview that he found his son’s phone at the scene.

“I got the phone on the 19th. I called the police after that. I don’t know if I touched it,” he said. “They’re trying to get DNA, and they have a print on the phone, but they don’t know if it’s mine, Billy, or whoever dumped it. But they’re trying to get DNA off the phone.”
Anna Schmidt, Billy Schmidt’s sister, said “I hope they find these animals and put them in cages for the rest of their lives.”

“They deserve to stay in prison for the rest of their lives for taking my brother. And I don’t think anyone will ever understand the pain they felt. They are animals for doing that to him. He was unarmed. And all this is done by phone? It just doesn’t make sense,” she said.
The Philadelphia Police Department is asking anyone with information about the suspects to contact 215-686-3334/3335 and is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
