Anne Schedeen, actress who played mother on hit sitcom ‘ALF,’ dies at 77

“ALF” star Anne Schedeen has died, Fox News Digital can confirm.
The actress who played the matriarch on the NBC science fiction sitcom was 77 years old.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share that Annie has passed peacefully,” the family’s statement on Facebook read. “He leaves behind an amazing legacy of creative energy, cracking smart jokes, joy in his family, adoration of small dogs, a burning hatred of Trump, a love of upcycling, and a love of a good story. We are lost without him. We loved him dearly, as did all who met him.
“He was a force. And it’s unimaginable to think about life without him. But as he said, ‘I’m always with you.’ And you are right. Memories, art, belly laughs, handmade jewelry, oil paintings, sculptures, clothing, and all around joie de vivre continue,” the statement said.

Schedeen spent years building her resume with guest appearances and recurring television roles before landing the part that made her famous. His early work included “The Six Million Dollar Man,” “The Bionic Woman,” “Three’s Company” and “The Incredible Hulk.”
Schedeen’s breakthrough came “ALF,” where he appeared in all four seasons of the comedy about a small-town family hiding a stranger from another planet.

Starring as Kate Tanner, she later told People magazine that filming the show was “a technical nightmare, very slow, hot and boring.”
“If you had an incident with ALF, it took hundreds of years,” he said. “A 30-minute show took 20, 25 hours to shoot.”
His five most notable screen credits are generally considered to be “ALF,” “Paper Dolls,” “Cheers,” “Three’s Company” and “Judging Amy.”

Although “ALF” was the defining role of his career, colleagues and fans often remembered Schedeen for his wit, warmth, and professionalism.
Schedeen is survived by her husband Christopher Barrett, daughter Tay Barrett, daughter-in-law Hilary Flynn, sister Sarabeth Schedeen, niece Minnie Schedeen, brother Roland “Tony” Schedeen, daughter-in-law Julieann Schedeen and her rescue dogs Roo and Red.
