The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Thursday that Border Patrol agents have not let a single immigrant into the US for 10 consecutive months, pointing to what officials described as low levels of illegal crossings.
DHS said in a press release that data from February showed that US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recorded its tenth consecutive month of immigration removals at the border, as the agency outlined an “enforcement-first” approach to continued declines.
“Ten straight months of ZERO illegal aliens being released at the border. President Donald Trump promised to secure the border, and that’s a promise we kept,” former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement. “We have the most secure border in American history. Our borders are CLOSED to trespassers.”

CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott said the trend reflects a broader decline in crossings, adding that the Border Patrol did not remove migrants from the country during that time.
“February marks the 10th month in a row that the US Border Patrol has not released a single illegal alien into the U.S. — a clear demonstration of law enforcement’s commitment to restoring integrity to our nation’s borders,” Scott said.
According to CBP data, agents recorded 26,963 encounters nationwide in February, down 22% from the previous month and 88% below the monthly average during former President Joe Biden’s administration.

On the southwest border, agents made 6,603 arrests in February, which the agency said was 92% lower than the monthly average over the past three decades and 97% below the Biden administration’s December 2023 peak.
Officials also pointed to a sharp drop in daily crossings, with the Border Patrol averaging 236 apprehensions per day in February — a 95% drop from the previous administration.

At the same time, CBP reported an increase in drug seizures, with agents seizing more than 79,000 pounds of drugs nationwide last month, the highest monthly total since October 2021.
The agency said seizures of fentanyl are up 67% since January, while seizures of marijuana, methamphetamine and cocaine are also up.

Scott said the agency is still focused on law enforcement and national security.
“While threats to the country’s security and economy continue to emerge, so does our determination to meet them, as we fulfill our duty to protect our country while promoting legal travel and trade,” he said.
