Diamond conveyed in the video that the soldiers pointed their guns when he approached and asked them to stay. He said that he and his team were not threatening at all, and that the property leased by Israeli settlers was illegal, even under Israeli law.

The IDF announced on Monday that “its investigation found many failures in the soldiers’ behavior towards journalists.”

“Furthermore, shortcomings were identified in ethical standards, deviations from IDF orders, and inappropriate communication with members of the media that violate established procedures,” the IDF wrote on social media.

“The IDF respects and promotes media freedom in the area and regrets the incident,” the IDF continued. “Therefore, the operation of the army in the area was immediately stopped.”

IDF Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir also condemned the incident in a statement, making it clear that the way the CNN team was treated was unacceptable.

“This is a very serious incident of conduct that is not in accordance with the norms and standards of the IDF. We all took the soldier’s oath when we enlisted—weapons should be used only for the purpose of fulfilling the duty, not for revenge. We will not accept such incidents within the IDF,” said Zamir.

CNN declined to comment further, pointing to Fox News Digital for its coverage.
