The new fun at Yankee Stadium in New York City went viral as soon as it arrived last weekend – flying out of the concession stand in one inning.
The team’s Mini Dessert “Chicken” Bucket — an ice cream designed to resemble a drumstick of fried chicken — sold out after fans struggled during the opener, according to reports.
Dessert includes vanilla ice cream covered in caramelized white chocolate and candied cornflakes with a chocolate-covered pretzel “bone.” It quickly became the talk of social media after it was previewed ahead of the 2026 season, as reported by the New York Post.

The $10.99 dessert, which comes in a small souvenir bucket, drew long lines from the start.
Fans packed the concession stands at Yankee Stadium, with some waiting 20 minutes or more just to try the limited-time item.

“Given how well the item was received at media day, the fans were very interested, and we sold out in the first inning of Saturday’s game,” Yankees executive director of communications Michael Margolis said in a statement sent to The Athletic after the April 4 game.
The Yankees initially expected the offer to end with the team’s six-game homestand against the Miami Marlins and Oakland Athletics, according to reports.

Fans who were lucky enough to escape the order were struck by the uncanny resemblance to the original drum.
“It really looks and sounds like a drum,” one fan told The Athletic. “I wouldn’t know the difference.”

Even veteran Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay — who is known for weighing the stadium’s chicken tenders on social media — gave the dessert high praise.
“It couldn’t be better,” Kay said in a video review, adding that its quality helps explain why it sold so quickly.
Online, many fans expressed their disappointment that they couldn’t get their hands on the dessert in time.

“They’re all sold out here in the arena,” one Instagram user commented on Kay’s video, asking, “How did you manage to get it?”
Massachusetts-based content creator Cameron Guzzo tried the treat during a preview preview and gave it a solid 8 out of 10.

“Such a great idea,” Guzzo said in a TikTok video. “All in all, the flavors work really well together, and it’s the stuff of a very sweet dessert, but the spoilage puts me off,” he added after the drum broke in half, and he nearly dropped it.
The Yankees’ culinary team, led by executive chef Robert Flowers, has emphasized creative concessions as part of a broader effort to improve the game-day experience.

Among them are bacon cheeseburger dumplings, loaded mac and cheese, apple pie nachos and a “Petroni Tiramisu” that deserves to be heard served in a small Yankees hat.
The success of the ice cream bucket reflects Yankee Stadium hits, such as the “99 Burger,” named after Bronx Bombers captain Aaron Judge’s number 99.

But it’s not the only stadium food that’s being widely distributed this season.
The demand highlights a growing trend of expensive and extravagant stadium fare, including foods like “brisket donuts” for the Houston Astros and giant rolled tortillas for the Miami Marlins, Fox News Digital reported recently.

For now, fans hoping to try the viral ice cream dessert will have to wait.
The Yankees said they plan to notify customers via Instagram post when an item is back in stock.
