Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., confronted a speaker identified as “Marien” during Sunday’s Jubilee debate, where the two debated immigration policy, public safety, and accountability for those involved in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Marien laid out her concerns about personal safety and the government’s priorities, saying Democratic policies pose a serious threat to everyday Americans.
“My frustration is that as an everyday American citizen, I feel that I am more likely to be harmed by Democratic policies such as open borders,” Marien said.
The exchange featured a wide-ranging debate about immigration enforcement, crime, and key policies, with Khanna advocating for reform along with border security as critics pointed to gaps in California’s approach.

“In your state, approximately 4,600 or more immigrants with criminal records have been released from prison,” Marien said. “So when we’re talking about harming Americans, when we’re talking about children who might be harmed, when we’re looking at child trafficking, we have to acknowledge that illegal immigration is a major conduit for child trafficking.”
Khanna responded by stressing his position on border security while shifting focus to law enforcement priorities.
“I’m all for secure borders,” Khanna said. “We were a secure border.”
The debate also touched on differing views on law enforcement in California, with Marien rejecting Khanna’s interpretation of Democratic positions.
“Nobody in California can claim a secure border,” Marien said.

At other times, Khanna said he argues that ICE has “put fear into communities.”
“I feel comfortable with ICE … I’m not intimidated by it,” Marien said.
The discussion expanded beyond immigration to include standards of accountability in the cases tied to Epstein, as both participants debated how the allegations should be handled.
Marien emphasized the importance of due process and a high standard of evidence before punishment.
“I’m more interested in any perpetrator who gets arrested, but I’m also the absolute burden of proof,” Marien said.
