Actress Reese Witherspoon has doubled down on her comments encouraging women to learn to use artificial intelligence (AI) after receiving criticism for her original Instagram post.

The “Morning Show” and “Legally Blonde” actress drew attention last week with an Instagram video and post asking people to learn how to use AI in their daily lives before it’s too late.

“The AI revolution has begun, and I need to learn as much as I can about AI and share it with you all. Also, FYI: jobs held by women are 3x more likely to be automated by AI, yet women use AI at a rate 25% lower than men on average. We don’t want to be left behind. So… do you want to learn with me?” Witherspoon posted.

Witherspoon faced backlash from critics who alleged the actor was being paid by AI companies to support the technology. In a new Instagram Story on Monday, she stood by her post after it “got people talking.”

“To be clear, no one is paying me to talk about this. I’m just a curious person. My kids are learning about AI tools, I know a lot of inventors using vibe code, and I hear about people using AI in all areas of business,” the post read.

Witherspoon clarified that he is aware of “legitimate” economic and environmental concerns about AI and AI data centers.

“I don’t believe that computers should replace humans. I plan to learn as much as possible to be educated about this technological revolution. If you want to learn with me, great, let’s do this! If not, that’s fine too,” wrote Witherspoon.

In another Instagram story, Witherspoon noted that Instagram also uses AI in many ways, such as detecting fake accounts and flagging dangerous content.

“That’s why you have to understand it…everywhere,” he wrote.

“We have to look at it. We have to understand it. We have to depend on it. We have to use it constructively and intelligently, make it our friend rather than – I mean, we have to be incredibly careful and aware of it because there are people who will use it for bad and not good. But I feel that there is a place for it… It is here in some way. Bullock said that we should be black.
