Singer Kid Rock took an Apache helicopter on Monday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth revealed to X.
“Joined my friend @KidRock – and some of our great @USArmy Apache pilots – for a ride this morning. (More to come on that!)” noted Hegseth in Monday’s post. “Kid Rock is a patriot and a great supporter of our military. The Department of Defense is wasting no time in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary – home of the free because of the brave.”
Pentagon Chief Spokesman Sean Parnell noted in a statement, “Today, military helicopters are operating in the National Capital Region to support the Freedom 250th public relations event.”
“As part of that event, Robert ‘Kid Rock’ Ritchie participated in outreach to many groups and service members and filmed videos for Memorial Day, America’s 250th birthday, and his Freedom 250 tour,” Parnell wrote.

“At each stop on his tour, Kid Rock has generously pledged 1,000 free tickets to members of the military or veterans. Today’s tour gave Kid Rock an opportunity to thank service members, highlight the ingenuity of the men and women who support this mission, and recognize their continued dedication to honoring our nation. The Department is grateful for the long-term support of Kid Rock’s military,” Parnell.
Before Hegseth’s post on Monday, Ryan Grim of Drop Site News reported in a post on X that “Kid Rock flew to Fort Belvoir this morning in his private plane and took a little joy ride with 2 Apache helicopters with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, according to several military sources, and supported by flight data. Apaches usually have 2 guns, so I told the two guys, so I told the guys two, so I could shoot with one driver.”
The patriotic music star shared photos late last month showing him clapping and saluting as a military helicopter flew by a lake in his Tennessee hometown.

“This is the level of respect for us[—] with a brain the Governor of California will not know. God Bless America and all who have made great sacrifices to protect it,” he wrote on social media while discussing the video of this episode.
“The military has confirmed that, on March 28, two Apache helicopters from the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell conducted a flight in the Nashville area that attracted public and media attention,” said Maj. Montrell Russell told Fox News Digital. “This incident is now under an Army Regulation 15-6 administrative investigation. The personnel involved have been suspended from flight duty while the Army reviews the circumstances surrounding the operation, including compliance with applicable FAA regulations, aviation safety protocol and certification requirements.”
But Hegseth responded to Kid Rock’s text on X thanking him and saying the suspension had been lifted.
