Roman Reigns walked away from WrestleMania 42 with the World Heavyweight Championship earlier this month, but it wasn’t long before a new challenger emerged with his eyes on the gold.
Jacob Fatu made it clear on last week’s “Monday Night Raw” that he was looking for his first world title. Reigns told him that he should think about it and that Fatu should prove that he deserves a shot at the tournament. Fatu followed up by not only beating Solo Sikoa on “Friday Night SmackDown,” but taking out the entire MFT team along with him.
Heading into this week’s Raw, Reigns was in a segment debating Jey and Jimmy Uso about what to do about the “Samoan Werewolf.” Jimmy Uso said Fatu’s pursuit of greatness and what comes with it should not “come at the expense” of Reigns. Jey Uso warned that Fatu is “dangerous.”

The battle for power intensified into the night as Reigns and Fatu met in the ring.
Reigns said he put the World Heavyweight Championship in the “main event” and that the title “deserved.” Then, Fatu came out to talk to Reigns, who said he hoped Fatu “made the right choice” to unite Bloodline and not “tear it apart.”
“You said you gave me a week, I don’t need a week. I don’t need a day. Yeh, I didn’t even need an hour to think about it. I knew exactly what I wanted when I left here last Monday,” said Fatu. “I didn’t hesitate, I didn’t hesitate when I told you that I don’t want that title, but I need that title.”
Fatu said that Reigns must have been “stuck” in his main event match and that Reigns didn’t “grind” like him to get where he is.
“But it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish,” he continued. “He even put me here now in front of a–. Before WWE, you didn’t call me, Jimmy didn’t call me, Jey didn’t call me, but you know who called me? Solo called me. Solo gave me a chance. Solo has been the one who has put me in since I arrived.”
Reigns suggested that Sikoa had nothing to do with Fatu’s arrival in WWE, saying “Solo couldn’t be brought a cup of coffee here if he wanted.”
“Who do you think is in charge of this place?” Reigns asked sarcastically. “‘OTC’ is going around this place. And yes, I’ve been a little distracted. Things get busy around here. But I haven’t forgotten about you and I’m the one who signed your a–. But you’re a little confused here, you sound like a fool to me.
“You don’t deserve it. You haven’t earned it. I let you compete with me, that’s discrimination. I won’t do that.”

Reigns didn’t finish his thought before Fatu attacked him with Tonga in the face.
“I will take everything, everything from you,” asserted Fatu.
Reigns then accepted Fatu’s challenge.
Later, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced the World Heavyweight Championship fight for Backlash – the next premium live event on the WWE calendar.

Monday night Rollins
Seth Rollins opened the show by talking to Bron Breaker, who defeated Gunther at WrestleMania. Rollins responded by attacking Breaker and his Vision teammates in the stable last week.
Rollins and Breaker argue over who is responsible for Breaker’s success. Rollins wondered how it benefited Breaker in the end. Brecker replied that he doesn’t need Rollins to go to the top of the mountain, he wants Paul Heyman.
“You needed us,” Breaker insisted.
Rollins said he saw potential in Breaker and Heyman asked him to take Breaker under his wing as Breaker moved from NXT to the Raw roster.
“Look at you Breaker, you’ve got it all. And I’ve been here 14 years, I’ve seen athletes from every discipline come in here,” Rollins said. “They’re big, they’re strong, they’re fast, but you’re different. You’re the biggest, strongest, fastest, most versatile performer I’ve seen in 14 years of working with this company. You’ve got everything, everything to be the next big thing in this industry. Everything but the most important thing (pointing to his head).
“I know better than anyone what it means to be a 28-year-old cat full of ps and vinegar coming into this company thinking that the business owes you something, not wanting to wait for anyone. I know better than anyone what it means to bet on yourself, to take chances, to make decisions, hard decisions that people will not be happy with. I know, me and you, I know that you succeed. But the difference between me and you succeeds. major or world championship.

Rollins made it clear that Breaker is “not ready” for the big time yet.
“Am I right? Is this the story you want to go with?” Breaker said “I hate to break it to you, superstar, but before all of this was a thing, I was on my way to becoming a major leaguer with or without you. I didn’t need you or your help or anything. And you want to blame me for losing the World Heavyweight Championship? That’s right. The truth is: your body can’t handle it, your mind can’t handle it and your shoulder can’t handle it anymore.”
Breaker then called out Rollins for being the best at “being No. 2.” Rollins responded that Breaker “wasn’t even No. 2 in your family.”
Rollins said he would give Breaker a match at Backlash. Levesque made it official later in the night.
Some notes
Levesque also booked Iyo Sky vs. They left with Backlash. Asuka interrupted Sky’s Women’s Intercontinental Championship match against Becky Lynch, keeping their month-long feud hot. Two of Japan’s women’s wrestling icons will now battle it out in the next big event.
Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez attacked Stephanie Vaquer from behind. Michael Cole later said on the radio that Vaquer was treated with a “broken AC joint” and could be out “for a while.”
Paul and Theory interrupted Joe Hendry’s concert during the show and attacked him, apparently starting a feud over Raw’s new calling.
