The Democratic House candidate is criticized for advocating the arrest of “American Zionists” and has accused journalists and his party of falsely claiming that he wants to build a detention center for “American Zionists” and a so-called circumcision facility.
In an Instagram post last week, South Texas sex therapist Maureen Galindo proposed legislation that would reinstate the detention center to house “American Zionists.” In other posts, he also accused Democratic runoff challenger Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Johnny Garcia of being paid to put “Jews and Mexicans in concentration camps by Zionist trafficking networks.”
In a social media video posted on Thursday, Galindo accused reporters of falsifying his comments and said he had received threats and hateful messages. He also sought to set the record straight about his reference to using an ICE facility in his district.
“I apologize to all journalists if I missed your email or social media message, lost in the wave of hundreds of death threats and worse things. I’m in Texas, I know MAGA. This is worse than MAGA, that’s because MAGA and Zionism is overriding the government in terms of religion,” said Galindo.

“I never said I wanted to use a concentration camp. I didn’t. I said I wanted to close all detention centers… and put billions of American Zionist funds into prison systems that kill people involved in prison smuggling.”
Galindo, however, emphasized his support for jailing those he called “American Zionists of the Billionaires,” whom he accused of supporting “killing prison programs.”
He said the use of the term “concentration camp” was coined by an unnamed journalist who “literally wants me to die.”
Galindo then blamed the House Democrats’ campaign arm, the DCCC, for stirring up the uproar and criticized the organization for supporting Garcia over him.

He then accused Garcia of being the “PR guy” for “the deadliest prison in Texas” and called him a “Zionist-backed councilman.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to the DCCC and Garcia’s campaign for comment.

Responding via video, Garcia said Galindo’s comments “have no place in our Democratic Party or any area of public service.”
Although Galindo could not be found, he wrote a direct response to this issue on his news page, and addressed it to all journalists who wanted to comment on this issue:
“Maureen never said she was looking for someone who was locked up in the camps.”
The campaign said that Galindo still wants the Karnes ICE center to be prepared for “billion Zionists” who can practice Evangelism, Catholicism, Mormonism and not just Judaism.
“Their behavior and actions will be judged,” the statement continued, adding that the restructuring would provide jobs in the region.

Galindo shocked the political body when he edged out Garcia in the first round by a few points – putting him and the law enforcement officer in the running.
The district number is the same as that of the current Squad member, Rep. Gregorio Casar of Austin, but Casar is running in a nearby Rep. Lloyd Doggett’s, D-Texas, and overlapped with his current seat, after Doggett said he would retire if the new GOP map holds up in court.

Meanwhile, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York and DCCC chairman Rep. Suzan DelBene of Oregon responded to the situation by accusing Republicans of “supporting” the “opposition” Galindo.
Jewish Democrats, including Reps. Jared Moskowitz of Florida and Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey, also criticized Galindo. Even some on the far left criticized Galindo, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, who called his comments “disgusting.”
