Conservatives criticize TIME for impeachment of scandal-plagued Democrat Platner

Time magazine is receiving criticism for its cover story on Democratic US Senate candidate Graham Platner.
The June 8 issue of Time magazine features a photo of Platner, a Democrat running for Maine’s first Senate seat, on its new cover titled, “Party Crasher: The Rise of Scandal-Battled Democrat Graham Platner.”
In a post to X, Time wrote, “Time’s new cover: Even in this stagnant political moment, Graham Platner’s rise has been remarkable. His election forces the party to agree on what it is willing to risk to find a fighter.”
Platner has faced several controversies including revelations that he had a tattoo widely recognized as a Nazi symbol. In newly-deleted posts created by Platner’s previous Reddit account, it is alleged that he also made sexually explicit remarks, described himself as a “communist” and “socialist” and mocked a US Purple Heart soldier who was nearly killed in action.

A Time article described the candidate as an unpolished outsider that Democratic voters want to make “the country’s new star.”
The article also describes the newcomer as “carrying enough baggage to sink an oyster boat: a Nazi tattoo, a DUI from a post-military period of heavy drinking, and dozens of Reddit posts spewing hostility from just about everywhere.”
However, the magazine’s cover and caption attracted scrutiny from X conservatives after Time posted the story on Thursday.

“So Donald Trump was Hitler, and we’re all Nazis, at a rally in Madison Square Garden. But the election of the far left with a Nazi painting is celebrated,” Elizabeth Pipko, a former spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, responded to X, adding, “You don’t hate the media enough.”

“This isn’t the first time a guy playing Totenkopf has appeared on the cover of Time Magazine,” wrote critical commentator Stephen L. Miller.
Several other X-users also referred to Time’s negative naming of Adolf Hitler as “Man of the Year” in 1938.

“Just perfection, guys…” said Fox News contributor Joe Concha.

Time and Platner did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Platner was presumptuously nominated by the Democrats after his rival for the nomination, Gov. Janet Mills, who ended her campaign last month after trailing Platner in polls and fundraising.
If he wins the June contest, Platner will try to defeat the five-term Republican senator this fall in a highly watched race that could have a major impact on the balance of power in the US Senate.
