Shane Gillis slams Chelsea Handler’s criticism of Kevin Hart roast

After Chelsea Handler lashed out at fellow comedian Shane Gillis for his jokes at a Kevin Hart roast, Gillis retracted them and sarcastically wished Handler all the best.
After Handler’s criticism of racial jokes at the event made headlines, Gillis responded with her own representation, “This is a big time for Chelsea. I’m glad you’re putting in a lot of money. Good for her. We’re all rooting for her. Anyway, come see me on July 17th at the ballpark in Philly.”
The recent roasting of actor Kevin Hart has sparked off-the-cuff jokes that have offended people in the political establishment, including jokes about the deaths of Charlie Kirk and George Floyd. Netflix’s latest roast special was notorious for jokes about panelists’ divorces, dead relatives, and many other taboo topics.
Gillis especially makes jokes about slavery and lynching, saying of the shrinking Hart, “Kevin’s so short they’ll have to take him out of a bonsai tree.” He later said about the joke on his podcast that he “could have done without it” and that it was told to “the wrong crowd” after it had done well in previous games.

Handler, a liberal outspoken entertainer, recently made waves by criticizing certain jokes, particularly Gillis’, during an interview on Deon Cole’s “Funny Knowing You” podcast.
He said that when he was preparing to grill other comedians like Gillis at this event, he learned that, “they are racist, they like sexism, you know they think they are exactly the same.”
“It was painful. It was bad,” he said of the racial jokes at the event. “I don’t find those jokes funny. Jokes about ripping off Black people⦠being cross is not a joke. That’s worse than rape.”
In his real pot, he said he’s not afraid of anything, he said, “I’m 51 years old, so I’m very secure with who I am,” and he said he doesn’t care if people dismiss him as a bad person. “I’m rich, famous, and hot. So, I’m f—ing people.”

Worst of all for him at the event, however, was Gillis poking fun at his previous association with the late financier, Jeffrey Epstein.
“Chelsea is a Zionist. I’m not saying it’s good or bad – when I’m talking about dead babies, she’s a big fan of abortion. Chelsea’s been fired more times than the Benihana grill,” Gillis joked at the roast. “Speaking of throwing small shrimp into a child’s mouth, Chelsea Handler attended dinner at Jeffrey Epstein’s house in 2010.”
He added further, “You can look at it. There are headlines. It wasn’t like a big party, there were, like, seven people there. It was like, Prince Andrew and Woody Allen were there.”

Handler has admitted to going to Epstein’s home several times over the years. While guest hosting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in 2022, he said that although he had never been to Epstein’s island, he “accidentally” found himself at a party for the aforementioned guests, brought by Katie Couric.
