The United States – one of the three countries hosting the World Cup – has reportedly finalized the list of 26 players for this highly anticipated tournament this summer.
While US Soccer is not expected to officially announce the roster until after Memorial Day, reports citing sources say Brenden Aaronson, Mark McKenzie, Turner and Sebastian Berhalter are among the options expected. Sebastian is the son of former USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter. Aaronson is ready for Team USA in time for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Sources have also told The Athletic that Gio Reyna is expected to be included in Mauricio Pochettino’s World Cup debut as USMNT manager.

Since being sent home from the 2022 World Cup due to what were described as moral issues, Reyna has remained one of the best players in the American squad despite his talent. The 23-year-old has logged a total of 509 minutes for Borussia Mönchengladbach this season.
As questions about Reyna’s future with the national team continue to circulate, the son of former US star Claudio Reyna recently highlighted the unique opportunity to play on the international stage.

“I’m hoping and waiting to be called, it would be an honor,” said Reyna. “The national team means a lot to me. … I would like to be there, to have an impact on the team. It would be a dream to represent my country in the World Cup.”

Roster cuts inevitably bring tough decisions, and reports indicate Real Salt Lake standout Diego Luna did not make the final World Cup squad. Luna has developed into a key member of the USMNT rotation in 2025.
Luna has scored four goals in 18 games for the national team, adding to the 22 goals he has scored in the past three seasons with Real Salt Lake.
