“American Sniper” widow Taya Kyle blasted Maine state Sen. Graham Platner’s “cowardly” comments, calling out the progressive Democrat for accusing her late husband of inflating his homicide numbers by shooting innocent people.
“You mean nothing, I want more attention than disrespecting a dead national hero with…” Kyle replied on “The Sunday Briefing.”
“It’s cowardly, it’s stupid to lie about someone else, and it distracts from what you might have said…”
Kyle accused Platner, the controversial challenger of Republican Sen. Susan Collins, of using a “cheap political trick” to attach his name to a “popular” candidate.

“That works for him to find that anonymity, but to me, it shows a complete inability to lead with character. To me, he’ll be out soon,” he added.
Platner’s remarks appeared on a 2024 episode of the “Green Beret Chronicle Show,” a podcast that discusses military issues.
“His stories about how many people he was shooting were certainly tracked by the behavior that I saw, and people I know testified at the Gov Center, that it’s easier to get high numbers like that if you don’t discriminate your fire less than if you say there will be a specialist unit,” said Platner.

Platner also came under fire for a recently suspended Reddit post condemning a soldier seen in a viral video injured in a clash with Taliban fighters saying, “The dumb mother—– didn’t deserve to live.”
Robert O’Neill, the US Navy SEAL who allegedly killed Osama bin Laden, called out Platner in response, calling him “way out of line” for talking about a soldier that way.
Platner, a Marine Corps veteran, has he leaned on his struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to explain the bevy of incendiary social media posts that have appeared since he announced his Senate run.
O’Neill denied that suggestion, however, saying that PTSD is no excuse for “bad hate.”
