A former Pentagon official who investigated unexplained incidents (UAPs) says newly released government documents provide evidence that the US has long treated UAPs as a serious national security issue – including claims involving the discovery of “non-human” objects dating back decades.

“There is a lot of information contained in this second level of information,” said Luis Elizondo on Tuesday, pointing to the latest data release authorized for release.

Discussing the matter on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Elizondo was surprised by the amount of information that came to his attention, including top secret intelligence from the 1940s that he said “clearly” suggested the existence of UAPs.

“The truth is that this is a topic that our government has been taking seriously for a long time. We will try very hard to try to close it, and this administration means business,” he said.

“This administration is the first administration in my memory to deliver on a promise to be more transparent and open with the American public on this topic,” he added.

Elizondo continued, talking about the mysterious results and what they suggest. He also talked about why the Pentagon may have fought so hard to keep intel under control for decades.

The files, which date back to the 1940s, he said, suggest the presence of extraterrestrials is “very real” and “definitely a national security concern.”

“These things have been encountered over US controlled airspace and frankly can surpass anything we had and now have in our inventory,” he warned.

Political tensions during the Cold War may be to blame for the long-standing secrecy, he said, telling Watters that the US government hid such information to avoid a “tip-off.”[ping] our hands to our enemies what technology we have been able to find in this” or, perhaps, to hide the national security risks.

“But I think times have changed, and a lot of the old thinking, I don’t think it works anymore,” she said.

“I think the American public can handle the truth. I think the American public deserves the truth, and I know what I saw when I was in the Pentagon…
