NEWARK, NJ – As he waded through the crowds looking impassive at a protest outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention center, Marxist political activist Hasan Piker defended figures from a pro-China activist network funded by American Marxist tech billionaire Neville Roy Singham as “good people,” while dismissing scrutiny of his Cuba trip.
Asked about reporting on Singham’s network and its links to left-wing activists, Piker said there is “this atmosphere of suspicion” surrounding Singham and his activities, “it’s bad,” but it’s “totally above board and totally legitimate.”
In recent months, many activists of Singham’s network have fueled, coordinated and organized violent protests against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, New York City, Los Angeles, New Jersey and elsewhere.

Piker’s point is noteworthy because a person who uses the Internet is not limited to live streaming on the Twitch site. With millions of young followers across Twitch, YouTube and social media, he has emerged as one of the most powerful – and divisive – figures on the American left, often advocating support for candidates and causes associated with the Democratic Socialists of America. Piker wore a baseball cap with the team logo.
Piker used his platforms to engage, advocate and campaign with candidates supported by the Democratic Socialists of America, helping to introduce them to younger voters who consume political content online. Reaching out to his audience has made him a force in democratic politics, giving him the ability to frame issues and fuel the enthusiasm of candidates on social and anti-establishment platforms.

As reported, Singham is an American Marxist technologist who has invested $285 million since 2017 into a network of non-profit organizations that have organized and coordinated anti-American divisive street protests, such as the one in New Jersey.
“I have no connection to Roy Singham or any of these other people,” Piker said, responding to questions from Fox News Digital. “I mean, I know some of these people. They’re wonderful people in general. They’re activists….There’s nothing hidden or illegal in any way, shape or form.”
This comes as federal investigators have expanded their scrutiny of activists involved in travel to communist Cuba, including organizations and individuals connected to a wide network of nonprofits and rights groups that have received funding from Singham and his wife, Code Pink founder Jodie Evans.

As reported exclusively by Fox News Digital last Saturday, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sent Piker and CodePink an administrative subpoena as part of an investigation into the March cruise to Cuba. Piker said he had not personally received the legal notice.
“Fox News Digital says I have a subpoena, but I have yet to be served,” Piker said. “So I don’t even know what’s going on. It seems like you guys have a better understanding of what the federal government is doing than I do, and I should be called.”
Piker’s comments followed CodePink founder Medea Benjamin’s revelation that Evans received the query via an email that initially ended up in a spam folder.
“We heard this on Fox News, that there was this subpoena,” Benjamin said in an interview shared publicly by BreakThrough News, another non-profit that Singham supports. “I was walking outside my door looking around for someone to help me. And it turned out that the email was sent to Code Pink founder Jodie Evans, and it was so illegal that it ended up in our spam box.”
As reported, the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has sent subpoenas seeking financial, transportation and communications documents regarding the March fleet. The Office of Foreign Assets Control administers and enforces US sanctions programs, including restrictions on financial transactions and certain travel-related activities involving Cuba.
Fox News Digital reported that the March 2026 march to Cuba involved a network of international activists organized by another Singham-funded group, the People’s Forum, and a nonprofit organization, Progressive International, both of which have close ties to the Communist regime in Cuba.

These activists are protesting the US sanctions on the communist island. Piker participated in the tour with members of Code Pink and a network of 145 organizations, according to a Fox News Digital investigation.
Piker framed the investigation as part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to target political activists and protesters, saying the scrutiny of the Cuba trip runs counter to Trump’s promises to protect free speech.
“I feel like there are many people who believe in that message, and now he has betrayed that message,” said Piker.
Piker told Fox News Digital that he welcomes the debate with Fox News host Sean Hannity.
Piker, who was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, was visiting his home state from his $2 million home in West Hollywood, California, campaigning at a Saturday rally in Trenton for the controversial candidate, Adam Hamamy, endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America in his race for Congress.
The New York Times published a profile Saturday, noting “candidate’s relationship with military chaplain.” Piker defended Hamamy.

Last week, during a live broadcast on the Twitch platform where he spoke for almost six hours without stopping, the organizer dismissed his concerns about his connection with the organizations involved in the Cuban series, while admitting that Singham finances a network of non-profit organizations involved in “political expression” and “many political organizations.”
Critics have argued that the network’s activities are a coordinated activist infrastructure that promotes communist causes, including support for Cuba, China and other authoritarian governments opposed to US foreign policy.
As Fox News Digital asked Piker about concerns related to negative influence from China, including far-left activist events like the anti-ICE protest unfolding around him, Piker walked away without answering the question.

Piker has divided people in many communities, including leftists and Democrats.
The activist yelled, “Get out of here,” as Piker walked away, punctuating his taunt with, “Dog abuser,” referring to allegations that Piker had trained his dog, Kaya, with a shock collar.
Piker dismissed the allegations.
