Sydney Sweeney shuts down critics of her controversial “Euphoria” scenes and makes it clear that she stands up for her work as her character Cassie Howard.
The 28-year-old actress and the HBO drama series faced criticism for her portrayal of Cassie in the third and final season where her character dives into the world of OnlyFans and creates sexually explicit content.
On Tuesday, Sweeney responded to her critics with a short but to-the-point message on Instagram and a bunch of behind-the-scenes photos featuring Cassie’s sexy season three look.

“it’s called… acting,” Sweeney wrote in a snippet of his slideshow, which included pictures where the actor appeared completely naked.

In one photo, Sweeney stepped out fully clothed and wearing nude socks with leaf-shaped protectors as he wore a giant python.
Sweeney was seen naked in only a nude underwear as the python wrapped around her body in another photo.
In the mirror selfie, the “Anyone But You” star wears a brown dog costume that includes dog ears, a collar, a leash, wrist straps and a satin corset.

‘EUPHORIA’ FACES NOMINATION AFTER SYDNEY SWEENEY’S BEST X EPISODE
When the dog costume-inspired scene was made mid-season, it quickly became one of “Euphoria’s” most divisive moments, causing widespread backlash from viewers who criticized the storyline as excessive and unnecessarily provocative.
In other photos, Sweeney is seen posing in a hot pink string bikini while kneeling at a bar, hanging upside down from a pole and wearing a low-cut wedding dress that Cassie designed when she married Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi).

In addition to her Instagram post, Sweeney also shared a series of selfies on her Instagram Story. She was seen wearing a pink and nude dress with a rose-embellished neckline in one photo.
The Emmy Award nominee posed in a gold halter top in another photo and modeled a sheer white babydoll bra adorned with pink roses over a white bra in one shot.
In another photo she shared, Sweeney was seen sitting in a makeup chair while a stylist curled her hair.

Sweeney also posted other photos taken from her filming, including photos of her performing with her co-stars Elordi and Alexa Demie.

During an appearance Monday on the New York Times podcast “Popcast,” “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson praised Sweeney for her bold approach to the controversial and nudity scenes that have been featured throughout the season.
“When I wrote it … I thought, ‘Well, maybe, we’re shooting all this, and we’re not nude,'” Levinson said via Us Weekly. “I was talking to him, maybe, there are ways to shoot closer [things] – and he looked at me, and he’s like, ‘Are you kidding? I play the OnlyFans model.'”

The 41-year-old emphasized that she is “constantly” discussing with the cast about what best serves their characters, and Sweeney was willing to fully embrace the creative direction.

“I think he’s a fearless player at all. He’s also a great worker, and he just shows the game every day,” he said. “I like working with him, because there is such flexibility in terms of performance.”
Levinson explained that she and “The Housemaid” star share “a lot of trust.”

“I would say, ‘Why don’t we try this scene just a little bit, a little bit funny.’ Suddenly, this whole version of the incident can come out based on his performance,” he said.
“We’re dealing with this OnlyFans world where women are paid to whisper into a microphone and lick it,” Levinson continued. “There’s an absurd level to it that’s just delicious.”

On the show, Cassie launched her OnlyFans account to help finance her lavish wedding with Nate and later went full-time after their relationship was revealed.
After briefly deleting the account under pressure from Nate, she relaunches it, gaining viral fame and finally becoming a successful content creator. In the series finale, Sweeney closes his OnlyFans account after landing a coveted role on the fictional soap opera “LA Nights.”
