Sharron Simmons, the first DoorDash employee to ever deliver food to the White House, said she hopes the benefits she reaps from President Donald Trump’s tax-free policy will carry over into the current era of 2028.
“Well, obviously, we’d like it to last, but I’ll enjoy it while I have it. And, you know, it’s not for me to decide that,” he told Fox News Digital during a Monday interview shortly after delivering the McDonald’s order to Trump.
In all, Simmons says he believes he took home more than $11,000.
“I think I’ll save about $3,000 to $4,000,” Simmons said.

Simmons’ story is one of many ways the White House has tried to highlight its work on Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, the president’s signature tax and border security package.
Along with the tips tax break, that bill also temporarily eliminated tax obligations for overtime pay, raised the maximum deduction to $12,000 and increased the child tax credit by $200 per child.

Simmons originally joined DoorDash as a way to make a little extra money on the side, saying he started his relationship with DoorDash because of its flexibility after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’ve been doing DoorDash since 2022. And I just got into it because it was something that after COVID and everything, I didn’t have to go into an office. And I felt like by doing this, I’m going to be able to help other people,” explained Simmons.
