CNN, MS NOW avoids killing of Loyola student Sheridan Gorman by illegal immigrant

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!

CNN and MS NOW viewers were kept in the dark about the illegal immigrant accused of killing 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago student Sheridan Gorman.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed on Sunday that the suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, is an “illegal Venezuelan criminal” who was apprehended by the US Border Patrol and released into the country under the Biden administration in 2023. Medina-Medina was released one month later after being arrested for shoplifting.

CNN and MS NOW ignored the story until Monday night, according to the network’s filings with Grabien Media, and their website search results.

Representatives for CNN and MS NOW did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

On Thursday morning, Gorman was shot in the back while walking near a Chicago lake with a group of friends, who all tried to run away after the suspect approached them with a gun. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The story brings to mind the murder of Laken Riley in 2024 at the hands of an illegal immigrant. At the time, the legacy newspaper was often lambasted by conservatives for downplaying or ignoring the killer’s immigration status.

Liberal networks seem to be following the same script, this time failing to mention the completely senseless killings.

President Donald Trump called Gorman’s killing “terrible.” But anyone who relies on CNN or MS NOW for information will have no idea.

The Chicago Police Department formally charged Medina-Medina on Sunday with Gorman’s murder.

In a statement, the Department said that Medina-Medina is currently facing six charges: murder, attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault including firing a gun, and possession of an illegal gun, the Department said.

A police source also told Fox News Digital that Thursday’s shooting was an apparent ambush, with the gunman reportedly wearing a mask or covering his face. The suspect is believed to have lived in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago.

Investigators have recovered a gun believed to be linked to the murder, sources said, and are awaiting the results of a gunshot residue test.

The suspect is being treated for tuberculosis and is expected to appear in court on Friday via teleconference.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, widely seen as the Democratic Alliance’s hope in 2028, issued a delayed response Monday afternoon after Gorman’s killing began to garner headlines in Chicago. But he took a moment to take a swipe at the Trump administration, accusing him of “politicizing” his death.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and community of Loyola University affected by the senseless killing of Sheridan Gorman. Violent crime has no place on our streets, and we expect the perpetrator to be held fully accountable by the law. The Trump Administration needs to stop politicizing terrible tragedies and instead focus on real solutions, such as preventing the renewal of violence that federal efforts support Pritz.
