Nate Smith found a little comfort when he performed on stage with country star Morgan Wallen.
In a recent interview with Billboard News, the 40-year-old singer said that one of the things she learned about the “Last Night” singer while touring with her is that she is “a very forgiving person.”
“One night during the tour, I might have thrown a drink at him on stage. I might have done that. I might have done that,” he admitted. “Maybe. And I thought I was trying to be funny, and it wasn’t funny. And Morgan forgave me. He forgave me.”
The singer admitted that Wallen “should have taken me out of this tour,” but the two laughed about it on FaceTime together.

He explained that after he apologized, Wallen said he understood, and said to him, “Man, maybe I should have done the same thing, or done the same thing.”
“He’s a very forgiving person. He’s very kind. He’s a good man,” Smith said. “He’s a good man. He’s a great guy. He’s the whole cup, actually. The whole cup. I thought I was the funniest guy in the world.”
After the incident, Smith recalls “getting a lot of phone calls” and that “nobody was happy” about what he did on stage.
“Morgan, if you’re listening, I love you,” Smith said. “I’m still really sorry about that. Thank you for not taking me back. You made me think you were going to visit all the places and you didn’t. You held back because you’re a kind man. Thank you, sir.”

Wallen has had a rocky road since becoming a country music star. The “Whiskey Glasses” singer was arrested and charged in April 2024 with reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct in Tennessee after throwing a chair at a Nashville bar, which landed near police.
In April 2025, Wallen talked about the incident during an interview with Theo Von “Last weekend” podcast, saying he hasn’t been to a bar “since the last time I was in a bar everyone knew about it.”
He also discussed the decline in popularity, explaining, “There are parts of [fame] I don’t like that.”

“It’s not good for you to go everywhere, and even if you don’t bother, you’ve always been on the edge because you thought you could do it,” he said. “There are things you just don’t do. There are things you don’t do anymore.”

“I can go with my friends, I’m in the middle of nowhere. I can relax,” he added. “I can’t stress it. You just find ways to add it, I guess, you know?”
