The New York Knicks blew out the San Antonio Spurs by 28 points after a Wu-Tang Clan halftime performance to complete the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.
Down by 29 at one point, the Knicks stormed back, sending Madison Square Garden into a frenzy.
But before that, almost all the momentum was in the hands of the Spurs – and the Knicks had few answers.

So, how did they become the victims of the greatest collapse in sports history?
“We were not very hungry in the second half,” admitted Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama was also Public Enemy No. 1 in New York, getting booed at the launch and booed from the crowd. When an early defensive play on him turned into a bad play he drew, he was mocked again. Apparently it went on all night.
But after Mitchell Robinson was called for a foul on Wembanyama, he seemed to enjoy the moment.
“I’m in your head!” The cameras caught Wembanyama saying.
Wembanyama was at the head of the Knicks. Black was on the minds of Knicks fans. And after winning two games on the road to start the series, losing all the momentum was on the Knicks’ heads.
But the Spurs scored just 30 points in the second half and turned the ball over nine times in the final 24 minutes. A 20-point lead in the fourth quarter was gone in a matter of minutes.

“To do a great job in that first half like we did and get the goal we had and not finish the job, it’s disappointing to say the least…” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said after the game. “We stopped playing the type of basketball that got us ahead. Then you see at one point, the aggressiveness and confidence that we were playing with early on disappeared and they shot. We needed a few games with a strong mindset to finish the job.”
“It was painful, of course. It feels like we worked hard and gave up our trail. It’s that simple. It’s just painful,” Wembanyama added.
Now, the Spurs have no choice but to be the hungriest team, as they need to win three games in a row to prevent the Knicks from winning their first NBA championship since 1973.
“It will go in two ways: the bad and the good. The bad will stop. The good will be stronger in this, many encounters and that’s what we will do,” said Wembanyama.

“We stuck together, we talked to each other, we didn’t point fingers. After that we either got it or we didn’t. We have shown that we can overcome this difficulty but even though we weren’t there before, I’m sure we were built this way. We will be better this time and it will strengthen us a lot.”
