Jessie James Decker shares one piece of advice she really listens to when it comes to making marriage work.
In an interview with Fox News Digital at a pre-CMA Fest party she hosted at her boutique, Kittenish, in Nashville, Tennessee, the 38-year-old country singer shared some marriage advice she’s considering.
“The best advice I’ve ever learned that really works in life is to keep flirting,” she said. “You’ve got to keep the toys. You’ve got to keep that youthful spirit, and naturally we do that. You’ve got to be silly.”
She and her husband, former football player Eric Decker, first met through a mutual friend in 2011 and got engaged the following year in April 2012.

They married the following year, in June 2013, and have since had four children together: Vivianne, 12, Eric “Bubby,” 10, Forrest, 8, and Denver, 2.
Even though they have been married for 13 years, Jessie expressed that she is surprised when he says that she is “still crazy about him,” adding that she hears people say that marriage is difficult and that “you have to work hard” for the marriage to be successful, but she has not found that yet.

“I still see him in my mind like before,” he said. “He’s my best friend, and we still love each other more than ever, and I’m very grateful for that. Yeah, early on they tell you, ‘oh, that’s going to fade,’ and it hasn’t.”
In a separate interview with Fox News Digital in February, Jessie shared that she “sets herself up for success” in a relationship when she wants someone who is not related to her “in the things that are most important to you.”

Instead of chasing perfection or performance, Decker said their shared values allowed them to adapt without losing touch.
“We see the world in the same way. We love the same, we want to raise our children in the same way,” he said. “When life happens, you can get through anything together.”
The two recently appeared together on the hit reality show, “Special Forces: Test Toughest World.” They made it to the sixth day of the challenge before Eric was withdrawn due to a hip and back injury during the challenge.

After her departure, Jessie chose to voluntarily withdraw from the competition rather than continue on her own. While their time on the show was cut short, Jessie told Fox News Digital in September 2025 that performing together helped strengthen their relationship.

“I think that experience, when it was all said and done, we had one of the best days and nights of our entire wedding,” Jessie explained. “We had a break in London, and we went to dinner, and, like, we fell in bed and I felt like we were sleeping when we looked at each other, and it was such a beautiful night.”
He continued, “We’ve been through a lot together, and it makes you really close. We’re so happy to sleep in that bed together.”
