White Sox vs Tigers prediction with Tarik Skubal back from injury

A 1-1 day on the diamond yesterday is not what I was looking for, but I’ll take it, as it’s always better than losing both games. One win for the Twins was no sweat and no problem. The loss to the Red Sox was a little frustrating. Trey Yesavage, to his credit, pitched a good game, but the Red Sox tied it and blew it late. Well, let’s go to the AL Central for this one.
The leader of the American League Central Division is playing in this game, only it’s not what any of us expected. As I’ve said about other teams, this is not the first time to print playoff tickets. However, it is great that the Chicago White Sox are leading their division when they were expected to be at a low level this season. They’re 39-34 on the year, and it’s giving South Side fans reason to cheer for the first time in years. It would be shocking to see them pull this off, but it would also be equally surprising to see the White Sox make a splash next month with a trade.

They will probably need some installation if they want to close this. If they want to push hard for the trophy, they’ll need a few more arms, a bat and maybe something else. Today, they use journeyman Erick Fedde as their starter. He was good for the team, but nothing special. He is 2-5 on the year with a 4.50 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. One big cause for concern today is that Fedde has been awful on the road with a 6.18 ERA in five starts. He picked up a solid win against the Tigers in late May, going four innings and allowing four hits and two earned runs.
The Detroit Tigers are making news today because of their starting pitcher. We’re all well aware of the fact that Tarik Skubal is likely to make a lot of money this offseason, but we also know that he could be traded before the deadline. Yesterday he said that if the Tigers do not improve, probably more than just him will be sold. For a team that has made the postseason two years in a row, it looks pretty bad right now. They are 14 games under .500, and have been under 27 games since August 23 of last year.
CHANCES INCREASING TARIK SKUBAL ADDITION BEFORE LIMIT AS PLAYOFF HOPE INCREASES, REPORTS SAY

We know Skubal is on any team’s wish list, but if I get him, I want to see if he’ll be healthy for the rest of the year. This will be his second start back since going on the injured list. He went 4.2 innings against the Guardians, allowing five hits and giving up three runs (two earned). He hasn’t faced the White Sox this season, but he has seen quite a bit over the seasons. They hit just .209 against him, but Randal Grichuk really came through, going 4-for-11 against him.
Whenever Skubal takes the mound, the books will always line him up. It makes sense; he gives the Tigers the best chance to win every five days. However, I would never pay that kind of price for a baseball game. Price is on the White Sox as Skubal needs to find his pitching again after missing some time. I wouldn’t bet on that either. I don’t hate the Tigers -1.5 at -105.

Instead, I’m taking the under 8 in this game. The reason is that Skubal may not be crisp, but if he is, we won’t see a White Sox run. The Tigers are averaging just four runs per game, and the White Sox offense is putting up nearly that amount. Most of the Tigers’ games are low-scoring. The White Sox have given up a lot of runs lately, but I don’t see the Tigers getting there, even against Fedde.
