The NFL has completed its investigation of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice. In a statement, the department said it determined that Rice “never engaged in conduct that violated the personal conduct policy.”

The unit also investigated the allegations brought by Rice’s ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Jones, and said the case was closed.

The announcement said the 25-year-old would not face discipline from the NFL, noting there was “sufficient evidence to support a finding that he violated the personal conduct policy.”

Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey, said in a statement that “Mr. Rice wants to thank the NFL for its thorough investigation and looks forward to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season.”

The Chiefs declined to comment after the league’s decision on Friday.

In January, Jones posted photos on social media that appeared to show bruises and cuts on her body and allegations of long-term domestic abuse. The post did not name Rice or anyone else. However, Jones said the alleged abuser is the father of her children. Jones and Rice share two children.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Jones wrote, “I’m tired of the silence. I’m tired of protecting her image. I’ve been through so much in eight years, and I’ve had ENOUGH!”

He said that he and Rice separated in 2025.

Jones filed the lawsuit in Texas in February. The lawsuit alleges that Rice committed repeated assaults over a 1½-year period beginning in 2023. The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in damages. Jones also revealed the alleged strangulation which he said took place in December 2023.

“Rice grabbed, strangled, choked, pushed, threw, scratched, hit and decapitated Ms. Jones, and also hit her with inanimate objects,” the lawsuit said.

Lindsey denied the claims in the lawsuit, citing a sworn statement from Jones.

“On October 9, 2025, after the parties’ relationship ended, Ms. Jones stated under penalty of perjury in a non-prosecution affidavit that ‘Mr. Rice and I had an argument, but he did not hit me.’ We will allow the legal process to continue.”

In March 2024, Rashee Rice drove a Lamborghini Urus at 119 mph on Dallas’ North Central Expressway, starting a multi-vehicle crash that injured multiple people. Theodore Knox, Rice’s teammate at SMU, was driving the Corvette. According to authorities, Rice, Knox and three others fled on foot without checking for injuries before police arrived.

In district court, he pleaded guilty to two counts of collision involving serious injury and racing on a highway causing injury. He was given a deferred sentence, meaning the charge will be dropped if he successfully completes probation.

The NFL upheld the six-game suspension last season after ruling that Rice violated the league’s conduct policy in that situation.
