CMLL superstar Persephone retains the title as legends steal the show in the epic event

Mexican wrestling veterans Blue Panther and Último Guerrero have been through the wringer and then some in their careers.

Panther, 65, started playing football in 1978 and left Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) in 1992 and returned in 1997. Guerrero, 54, started his career in 1990 and joined CMLL in 1997.

Panther and Guerrero were part of CMLL’s first solo show in the US The company came to Las Vegas for the event for the first time in its 92-year history. They compete against each other in a match of legends that has turned into a must-see wrestling match.

The two giants of Lucha Libre turned the clock to deliver an incredible performance. Guerrero hits a hurricanrana and a superplex on the top rope. Panther matched him with many suicide dives. When Guerrero came out of the third, Panther hit a rope from the middle rope to the floor.

Panther closed out the match with a top rope dropkick. He then pinned Guerrero for the win.

Fans packed the Pearl Theater at the Palms Casino Resort shouted, “Muchas gracias,” to the superstar duo, who didn’t feel like they were any closer to hanging up their boots.

Meanwhile, the show featured Persephone defending the CMLL World Women’s Championship against Tessa Blanchard, a former CMLL tag team champion and former Total Nonstop Action (TNA) world champion and wrestling champion.

Blanchard entered the arena as a top heel and got boos from the crowd as a result. But he was fearless against the rising star Persephone. He went to work on Persephone, spraining his knee during the game.

Persephone would pull out all the stops to take care of Blanchard. After getting a cutter on the apron, Persephone hit Blanchard with a painful German suplex.

As the match continued, Persephone got the upper hand in the corner. He was able to reverse Blanchard’s attack and nailed him with a powerbomb to the crucifix for the win. He is 3-1 against Blanchard.

Persephone will have a chance to win more gold on Friday night when she makes her Maple Leaf Pro (MLP) debut as part of the Slam Fest event. She challenged for the MLP Women’s Canadian Championship where she defeated Gisele Shaw and Shotzi Blackheart.
