Former Illinois “great mayor” Tiffany Henyard is reportedly a Georgia resident while serving as mayor of Dolton in 2025.

After losing his bid for re-election as mayor of Dolton, Henyard has begun a campaign to run for South Fulton County District 5 on the Fulton County Commission as a Republican.

Last week, Henyard participated in a special meeting of the Fulton County Board of Registration & Elections regarding his qualifications to run for the District 5 Commission in the Primary Election, which will be held on May 19. County law states that a candidate must have been a resident of the county for 12 months prior to running for office.

Henyard argued during the meeting that he has been a legal resident of Fulton County since May 1, 2025. However, Board Commissioner Julie Adams pointed out that he served as mayor of Dolton until May 4, 2025, when he officially left office.

“Did you know that in Cook County, Illinois, to have an office there, you have to be a resident of that area?” Adams said. “So, you were mayor until May 4, 2025, and yet you claim to have become a citizen of Georgia on May 1, 2025.”

“OK,” Henyard replied.

Henyard said during the meeting that he was a “lame duck” after losing the mayoral primary in February to Dolton Trustee Jason House, which led to his resignation.

“But you were the mayor, weren’t you?” Adams asked.

“My title was mayor, yes,” Henyard said.

Board member Douglass Selby also noted that Henyard appeared to be still registered to vote in Illinois. The board of elections later voted 3-1 to approve Henyard’s residency requirement to run for the Fulton County Commission.

Henyard did not respond to questions about whether he still receives payments from Dolton during his time as mayor and Thornton Township trustee. Illinois state law stipulates that mayors must remain in the municipality they represent for their entire term.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Henyard for comment.

Henyard has been called the “worst mayor in America” after allegations of corruption and mismanagement of the town’s finances. A financial investigation reportedly revealed that Dolton’s bank account had dropped from an initial balance of $5.6 million to a $3.6 million deficit.
