Another former NFL star has faced New York Giants President Jaxson Dart’s introduction of President Donald Trump, which sparked controversy after his teammate, Abdul Carter, publicly mocked the caller’s actions.

Dez Bryant, the All-Pro wide receiver who spent most of his nine-year career with the Dallas Cowboys, took to social media to say he doesn’t get the “hate” Dart received for introducing Trump at a rally last week.

“I really don’t understand Jaxon’s hatred [sic] Dart got to introduce President Trump. Good or bad..if you support Trump or not..you are in a losing position,” Bryant wrote on X. “Politics and religion are difficult in sports. People have the right to believe in whatever if— they want.

“I don’t know..I just live by the code..As long as it doesn’t interfere with —-..do whatever you want because you have to take whatever you have with God. I’m too much of a sinner to judge politics.”

Dart, Carter, head coach John Harbaugh and quarterback Jameis Winston all spoke about the situation Friday, with Dart and Carter hugging as they changed spots on the stage.

The Giants wanted to show there was no animosity in the locker room, but both Dart and Carter stood their ground.

“Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things,” Carter told reporters at the team’s practice facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey. “Jaxson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise. He doesn’t just represent himself and what he does, he represents all of us, and that goes for anyone in a Giants uniform.

“But if he chooses to associate himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe or what I stand for, not only to show my colleagues that I’m against that, but to show the world.”

Dart opened his time with reporters saying he had prepared a statement and hoped to talk about football going forward.

“This was a unique opportunity, you know, to be asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States,” said Dart. “My reasoning was simple in the fact that, you know, I’ve always loved this country. I have extended family members who have fought in wars. I have two uncles who have retired from the Air Force Academy and are self-employed. And I even have a great grandfather who served as Treasury Secretary at one point.

“Therefore, the position of the President has always been a position that I have the most respect for, regardless of which political party I belong to, and you know, my intentions have always been the same.”

Carter added that, while he believes he needs to talk, “it doesn’t mean Jaxson and I hate each other or have beef.” He revealed that they sit next to each other every day at team meetings, where they talk all the time.

“I don’t want him to say he’s sorry. Stand up for what you believe in,” Carter said.

Dart added: “We just talked. You know, Abdul and I got here at the same time. We share a lot of things in common. We’ve had a lot of struggles during the season and we’ve had to have each other’s backs and that’s exactly what we continued to do today. …Me and him are one of the closest guys on the team. So, you know, we’ve had a lot of conversations with my brother, and I know a lot that my brother talks to him. And, at the end of the day, we want to be better people and players for each other.”

Winston, who serves as a veteran voice of wisdom in the locker room and can serve as a backup quarterback, said he was “proud” of both Dart and Carter in private and with reporters.

“I’m proud of our team for understanding that we don’t have to choose a side in this,” he said.

Harbaugh echoed Winston’s prideful sentiment, believing his new team would be better off because of the situation.

“We are in a good place now, and we are moving forward,” he said.
