A female competitor has been arrested after allegedly stabbing three horses at a barrel racing event held at a hotel in Nevada over the weekend.

Authorities with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call that a horse was injured in a barn near the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, police said in a press release.

When they arrived at the scene, authorities found three horses “deliberately injured with a sharp object,” the department said.

The LVMPD Animal Cruelty Section was then notified and sent to the barn, which led detectives to identify the girl as a possible suspect in the stabbing incidents.

Investigators said he had access to the barn where the horses were kept, and they believe he “may have used a knife to injure the horses multiple times.”

Although the injuries to the three horses were not life-threatening, the animals were unable to compete in the 2026 National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) Professional’s Choice Las Vegas Super Show, which was held at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center over the weekend.
