A manhunt continues after a fatal shooting at a Chick-fil-A restaurant

A deadly shooting at a New Jersey Chick-fil-A has left one person dead and six others injured, as authorities say the violence was targeted and suspects are still at large.
Police responded around 9 a.m. Saturday to a restaurant on Route 22 in Union, where officers found seven victims, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The restaurant sits along the busy Route 22, Union County’s busiest commercial corridor.
One victim was pronounced dead, while six others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“Although no arrests have been made at this time, the preliminary investigation indicates that this does not appear to be a random act of violence and that there is no ongoing threat to the public,” the District Attorney’s Office said.
The investigation is ongoing and ongoing as authorities work to identify those involved.
A dashcam video circulating online appears to show a person fleeing the scene with what appears to be a gun.

A man who said his girlfriend works at the restaurant told CBS New York that he described a group of men who entered the restaurant, walked behind the counter and fired several shots.
Authorities remained on the scene late Saturday, with officers and employees seen inside the restaurant while other officers canvassed the parking lot.
Investigators have not yet released information about a possible motive or identified any suspects, but officials also said the incident appears to have been targeted. Authorities have not said whether the victims were targeted individually or connected to the suspects.

New Jersey Governor Mikey Sherrill said he had been notified of the shooting.
“As local law enforcement continues their investigation, we remain in close contact with lower-level officials,” Sherrill wrote to X. “My thoughts are with those injured and their families. I thank our first responders for their quick action and continued efforts to keep the community safe.”
