A Seminole Hard Rock pool cabana collapses in a gust of wind, injuring 5 guests

A strong wind gust sent a metal cabana crashing into the crowded Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Saturday evening, injuring five people.

The incident took place at the DAER Club, a rooftop entertainment venue at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, according to reports.

Strong winds hit the exterior of the property, causing the building to partially collapse.

Five people were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, reports said.

Videos shared online showed visitors and workers rushing to help those trapped under the collapsed building, with several people lifting parts of the steel frame before first responders arrived.

The frame of the cabana was lifted by strong winds before crashing into the guest quarters near the resort’s swimming pool.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for comment.

In a social media post, the witness said he walked away before the structure came down, and later explained that he felt nervous about how he avoided being caught under it.

“I’m still in shock. I keep thinking I should have stopped there, but for some reason I left at the last minute,” the user wrote.

Fox News Digital previously reported on a weather-related accident in which a New Jersey lifeguard was impaled by a beach umbrella that flipped into the wind during windy conditions.

The incident happened at Asbury Park’s 3rd Avenue Beach in June 2025. First responders found a woman unconscious and conscious after an umbrella pole stabbed her in the shoulder.

Fire officials later said the guard remained awake during the ordeal and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The incident has prompted renewed warnings about securing outdoor equipment in windy weather, especially on beaches and other open recreation areas.
