A Wisconsin county clerk says an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation tried to interview the county election director where he lives and issued a statement defending the state’s management of the 2020 presidential election.
“I can confirm that a representative of the Federal Bureau of Investigation visited my Director of Elections’ home and left his business card,” Milwaukee County Clerk George Christenson said in a statement Thursday morning.
“We will be following up to determine the nature of this visit. It is unfortunate that the FBI chose to visit the private residence of the Milwaukee County Elections Director rather than contact the Election Commission office directly. No dedicated public servant should be subject to that type of intrusion just for the sake of fulfilling their duties with integrity and professionalism.”
Christenson went on to defend the state’s handling of the 2020 presidential election as “fair and transparent” and said “this has been proven time and time again over the past six years by the post-election campaign, the Presidential Election Recount, the challenge based on the State courts, the challenge based on the State courts, the audit by Wisconsin’s Legislative Bureau on the two additional Audit Auditors. resolved questions do not strengthen the public’s confidence in the election but it is humiliating.”

Christenson went on to suggest that the FBI’s actions were “an attack on democracy.”
