An Arkansas school principal was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 120 days of house arrest with electronic monitoring and nine years of probation after prosecutors accused him of being the “leader” of a makeshift militant group.
Mary Tracy Morrison, 51, owner and director of the Delta Institute for the Developing Brain and the Engage program in Jonesboro, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of permitting child abuse and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child, according to KAIT.
The judge also prohibited him from working with children in any capacity and ordered that he surrender his occupational therapy license and any other related licenses, complete a mental health evaluation and follow all recommended treatment.

Morrison was arrested in April 2025 after a mother told the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office that her 12-year-old son reported being physically and mentally abused while at school.
Video footage obtained by deputies with a search warrant showed that Morrison “ordered the child to sit down while he was surrounded on the outside by 18 other young students and Dr. Morrison,” according to the probable cause affidavit, KAIT reported.
The affidavit says Morrison told other students to put their hands on the middle child and hit the child with “an unknown object.”

While Morrison was yelling at the child, another student was seen kicking and choking the child.
After the alleged incident, Morrison was seen “giving five prizes to the child, showing his delight in the student’s actions,” according to the affidavit.
The incident lasted 30 minutes and shows the teacher ordering the student to hit his classmate “in private areas,” deputies said.

After the incident, Morrison “ordered the victim to apologize to all the other students” and told the students not to discuss what happened again, the document said.
Three other school employees – Michael Bean, 38, Kristin Bell, 36, and Kathrine Lipscomb, 45 – were also arrested in connection with the abuse.
