House Democrats on Tuesday introduced a long-running bill to remove President Trump from office using the 25th Amendment.
The 10-page bill, introduced by House Judiciary Committee member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., would create a 17-member commission to examine whether the amendment could be used to remove Trump from the White House.
This team will be made up of several doctors and former senior officials appointed by congressional leaders from both parties.
“[T]The Commission will examine the President’s doctor to determine whether the President is mentally or physically unable to perform the powers and duties of the office,” the bill said.

The Democratic and Republican leaders of each chamber of Congress will select four physicians and four psychiatrists to serve on the commission. The 16 nominated members then vote to elect another member to be the chairman of the body.
A majority of House and Senate Democrats called for Trump to be impeached or prosecuted after he wrote that “the whole civilization will die tonight” in a social media post about the Iran war. Raskin cited Trump’s “increasingly erratic, inconsistent, and shocking public statements” during the ongoing conflict.
“We have a difficult task to play our role under the 25th amendment by establishing this body that will work alongside the Vice President and the Cabinet,” said Raskin in a statement. “The public’s confidence in Donald Trump’s ability to carry out the duties of his office has sunk to an unprecedented level as he threatens to destroy an entire civilization, creates chaos in the Middle East while violating Congressional war powers, insults the Pope of the Catholic Church, and posts artistic renderings of himself on the Internet likening himself to Jesus Christ.”

The legislation has 50 Democratic co-sponsors.
The White House has disputed Raskin’s allegations, asserting that Trump’s reasoning ability has not deteriorated, while also criticizing Democrats for former President Joe Biden’s mental lapses while in office.
“Lightweight Jamie Raskin is a stupid man’s idea of a smart man,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital. “President Trump’s intensity, unparalleled power, and historic reach are in stark contrast to what we saw during the previous administration, when Democrats like Raskin deliberately masked Joe Biden’s massive mental and physical decline from the American people.”

Trump defended his statements, saying he did not follow through on his threats because Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire. He noted that his words “brought [Iran] on the table, except for one thing I believe they will give up.”
“Remember, what did they say to us? I’ve been listening to them say, ‘Death in America,’ for years, right?” Trump said “Sunday tomorrow,” referring to Tehran’s outcry. “They said, ‘Death to America, death to Israel, America is Satan, we will destroy America, death to America.’ Now, does anyone complain to you when he says that? I think that’s an even bigger step—’Death in America.’
