Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., expressed skepticism in the new debate that the federal government is coming forward with what it knows about UFOs.

“The truth is, the government doesn’t tell us everything that’s going on,” Burchett said Wednesday on the “Will Cain Country” podcast.

“I believe something else is going on – it’s not ours, it’s not the Russians, it’s not the Chinese. If any of them had it, they would own us, even more than China now,” he continued. “So I think the only alternative is that it’s something that might not be of this world or of this world that’s been around for a while, and we’re not looking in the right places. And I believe there are other people in the government who may have information about what it is.”

Burchett, who serves on the House Oversight Committee, has been outspoken in his requests for federal agencies to disclose any information they have about UAPs, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, which officials now call Unidentified Flying Objects.

Burchett told Cain that he gets information about something every week.

“I was riding baseball this morning, I was practicing baseball… And I was holding the usual grief that I always do. And I said, ‘Y’all should have been at SCIF with me yesterday. I need to start coming to some of those meetings and listen to what the federal agencies have to say and what they have to say. And look at some of the pictures and look at some of the videos, and then shut them down quickly,” Burchett would quickly shut them down.

Burchett also said it’s something that needs to be fixed because it affects where tax dollars go.

In February, the President Donald Trump he said he would direct the release of government files related to alien life and the unknown environment, saying there was “tremendous interest” in the matter following former President Barack Obama’s comments.

Obama appeared Brian Tyler Cohen’s podcast in February when he was asked if aliens were real.

“They’re definitely there, but I haven’t seen them,” Obama said.

After his comments, Obama issued an explanation.

“I was trying to stick to the spirit of speed, but now that it’s taken care of, let me be clear,” Obama said on Instagram. “Mathematically, the universe is so large that the chances are good that there is life out there. But the distance between solar systems is so great that it is unlikely we have ever been visited by aliens, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that aliens have contacted us. Really!”

Trump said he would direct Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and other relevant departments and agencies to begin identifying and classifying records related to unidentified aerial phenomena, UFOs and possible extraterrestrial life, making this move in response to growing public curiosity.

Trump also said that Obama gave away “classified information” and he shouldn’t have.

“I don’t know if they’re real or not,” Trump told Fox News White House reporter Peter Doocy. “I’m telling you, he gave away classified information. He shouldn’t have done that – he made a big mistake. He took it out of classified information.”
