Bryson DeChambeau is coming off the most embarrassing season of his career after a horrible US Open.

This weekend marks the second anniversary of Bryson DeChambeau’s US Open championship, but it could have been a decade ago. Maybe two decades.

Heck, does it really happen? It’s unheard of these days. The way DeChambeau is playing right now, you almost wonder if it was all a dream.

Because right now – this season – it doesn’t seem likely that DeChambeau actually won a big.

YouTube’s most popular golfer missed the US Open this week after finishing two rounds at 5 over, marking his third major loss of the season.

Three. THREE! For those who count at home, that’s all. That’s right. Bryson DeChambeau has yet to play a full weekend this season in terms of the majors.

Every month you think you’ve found a new low, and every month Bryson manages to find a new low.

And, at this point, it’s defenseless.

Maybe Bryson DeChambeau should just join YouTube full time

Obviously, everyone is jumping on Bryson today, and rightfully so. I get it. Me too. I loved Bryson DeChambeau.

Well, scratch that. I used to disdain he. Back in the day – I’m talking ten years ago – he was intolerable. He was small, and annoying, and wore a stupid hat all the time, and only cared about looking as big as possible and beating his driver by a mile.

And it was cool. He was different. But she wasn’t pretty. He did not win.

Something has changed in the last few years. Something clicked. He became humble, and charming, and actually became a great golfer. He won the US Open back in 2024 (and 2020) after a classic battle with Rory McIlroy, and you thought he was finally there.

The fans loved him. The media loved him. For nearly two years, Bryson was a major factor in every major tournament. He has not finished worse than 10th in all but two majors in 2024 and 2025.

However, this year everything has gone you know what.

LIV Golf is dead now, and you can see it on everyone’s faces. Only six of LIV’s 13 golfers made the cut at Shinnecock. Six. Bryson missed. Jon Rahm missed. Cam Smith missed.

Bryson, in particular, has looked miserable all season. In fact, you are watching even worse there is sorrow.

He looked lost. He sounded lost. There have been several times over the past year that DeChambeau has officially ruled out the idea of focusing on his YouTube channel over his actual golf game.

“I’d like to grow my YouTube channel three times, maybe more,” DeChambeau said while practicing for last month’s LIV Golf Tournament at Trump National. “I’d like to. I’d like to make a bunch of recordings in different languages, giving the world one more reason to watch YouTube.

“Then I would like to play the tournaments I want.”

He also told Pat McAfee last year that he believes the entertainment side of golf (aka his YouTube channel) has become bigger than the professional game.

Does that sound like anyone anywhere shut up in winning something important again?

No. That’s not the case.

It sounds like someone is on the cusp of finishing the most embarrassing season of his career: four missed straight cuts.

After these first three medals – and after a disappointing showing this week at Shinnecock – there is no reason to bet against it.
