No tax on tips and overtime will save thousands of workers, says the Labor secretary

This Tax Day, Americans are seeing historic savings thanks to the bold, pro-growth policies and massive tax cuts authorized by President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cut.
In fact, this year’s average tax refund is up nearly 11 percent compared to last filing season, and the average refund is over $3,400.
Workers and job creators alike benefit from the most pro-worker legislation in American history.

As Secretary of Labor, I spoke with dozens of manufacturers, business leaders and union members who directly benefited from President Trump’s tax cuts.

New hires, new factories and the purchase of new equipment are some of the things investment producers and small business owners are thankful for in President Trump.

Thanks to the WFTCA provision that allows for 100 percent immediate cost of production equipment, the businesses I visited, such as STIHL USA in Virginia Beach, will be able to increase operations and create jobs.

The results of these policies speak for themselves: Last month alone, the economy added 178,000 new jobs, including 15,000 in the manufacturing sector.
After years of decline under the Biden administration, President Trump is driving a revival of job growth with tax savings that create a more secure future for all Americans.
Real Savings for American Workers
With provisions like no taxes on tips, overtime and Social Security now in place, the Working Families Tax Cuts allow Americans to keep their hard-earned paychecks.

Thanks to the elimination of overtime taxes, first responders like police, firefighters and EMTs who work around the clock to keep us safe will get the pay they deserve for their work. More than 25 million taxpayers claim an overtime deduction, with an average deduction of more than $3,100.
The president’s historic tax cuts don’t just help existing workers — the legislation also creates new opportunities for America’s future workers.
In Kansas City, I met with local law enforcement officials who shared what this tax break would mean for their community. Brandon, the recruiting officer, told me that “this will go a long way” in motivating future police officers to join the force.

Shift workers in service industries, such as salespeople and restaurant servers, also benefit from the elimination of taxes on tips, resulting in an average savings of $7,100 per taxpayer.
In addition, more than 34 million families claimed the enhanced Child Tax Credit, which was permanently doubled and expanded by the Trump tax cuts — putting more money in the pockets of hard-working families.
President Trump’s tax cuts are a huge victory for the American people, and these savings will have a ripple effect on the economy.
