Chargers troll Patriots in video release with not-so-subtle Vrabel-Russini reference

The Los Angeles Chargers have a reputation for producing some of the best videos out of the NFL schedule and the only people they let down on Thursday evening might be the New England Patriots, the team’s fans, coach Mike Vrabel and former reporter Dianna Russini.
Because in their video, the Chargers went there.
They talked about the relationship between the Patriots head coach and the former reporter in their video.
Every Halo themed video is worth your 6:13 watch time.

But in Week 12, when the Chargers host the Patriots at SoFi Stadium, this video makes that point by showing a handful of soldiers on ATVs headed for the playoffs when they suddenly get a message.
“NYPost sent you a message,” appears on the screen.
And all of a sudden the military guys killed.

You’ll recall, Page Six of the New York Post first published pictures of Vrabel and Russini sitting by a pool, and in a hot tub, and holding hands and cuddling on the roof of a bathroom in Sedona, Ariz., in the first week of April.
Those photos and several others, released by the Post and other online publications, eventually led Russini to resign from The Athletic and remove his social media presence.
Vrabel, on the other hand, has stumbled though many press conferences while trying to avoid and explain the issue without really giving details. He missed the final day of the NFL Draft while flying to Utah and sought “counseling” after what he called painful conversations with his family.
It wasn’t the first time the Patriots were tagged as a team with a coach who had a “relationship” with a reporter. The group was full of sarcastic words when they greeted the fans on Mother’s Day.

The Chargers didn’t pick the Patriots and their “situation.”
They go after all opponents in some way or fashion.
They mocked the Ravens for their aborted trade of Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Maxx Crosby. They followed the New York Jets in their inability to intercept the pass after the team failed to muster a single defense in 2025.
Besides talking about the Vrabel-Russini situation, the Chargers also pointed out that the Patriots played an easy schedule last season.
“Win the cupcakes,” the video flashes.

However, the NFL does not understand, approve or condone video releases of team schedules. So, the league is washing its hands of what the Chargers or other teams can do to oust the Patriots.
And if the Patriots are offended by this 10-second clip on the opposing team’s video because it portrays a bad situation, it could be a long season of taunts from opposing fans.
