Dan Dakich blasts WNBA, Fever organization after recent Caitlin Clark controversy: ‘League’s joke’

Dan Dakich has had enough of the WNBA treatment of Caitlin Clark.
Dakich, 63, spoke to the WNBA, chief of officials, Sue Blanch, and Commissioner Cathy Engelbert about their handling of the Indiana Fever star, as well as the continued physical play he has endured.
“It’s total bullshit— the way this department is running it. It’s endless bullshit—. And to be honest, I’m going to the department office. I’m calling the commissioner. I’m calling the chief of staff.” Dakich said in the latest episode of OutKick’s “Dan Dakich Unfiltered.”

During the Fever’s 111-109 loss to the Phoenix Mercury, Clark was hit in the throat by Alyssa Thomas while lying on the court after a scrum. No foul was called at the time, and Clark left the game with an injury.
Thomas was later assessed a Flagrant Foul 2 penalty, then suspended by the facility for “carelessly touching his throat with his fist.”
Dakich said the problem with the WNBA is that they have DEI officials. He said college basketball, the NBA and the NFL also have the same problem, but the WNBA is the best at it.
“The WNBA is the best in DEI if it has unqualified people who can’t manage to call such a game. And frankly, it’s always the same African-American woman who doesn’t make the calls, at least according to Caitlin Clark and her fans. Disrespect, unacceptable. Uh-uh. That’s not something we should say,” said Dakich.
“We have to call it what it is. Put an end to the bulls— and the joke of the league by not coming in and doing something.”

Dakich praised Fever coach Stephanie White but criticized Fever COO and general manager Amber Cox for her silence on Clark’s continued treatment.
“Amber Cox, who’s the president of Freaking Fever. Dumbass– she was on Twitter last night congratulating the fans on different things. I mean, I’ve never heard her stand up. I’ve never, not even once, heard, even once, heard from the commissioner of this division, (Cathy Engelbert),” said Dakich.
“They’re all afraid of angry gay African-Americans. They’re all afraid, like we were all supposed to be back in 2020, about the media making you racist. Does being called a racist really bother you? Does it matter?”
Dakich then asked the leadership of the Fever to encourage the players to stick with Clark, and empty the bench in the future.
“If I’m the leadership of Fever, I find someone there to kick someone –. I mean, I don’t allow this to happen anymore. In fact, I don’t know their group. It seems that everyone is giving Sophie Cunningham a pass from being an enforcer. She faced the girl from behind. It’s okay,” said Dakich.

“But there will have to be an argument to remove the bench. Something like ‘Evil in the Palace’ the next time someone touches Caitlin Clark in a threatening manner. That’s exactly what this is. This is dangerous behavior.”
Clark is sitting out the Fever’s upcoming game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday at 8 pm ET.
The Fever are 10-8 this season, and Clark has played in all but one game. In 17 games, he averaged 21.2 points, 8.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game.
