SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced Monday that it may be “time to sue” Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., after the California representative’s recent comments against the new trillionaire.
The announcement came after Khanna called on the Democratic Party to hold Musk if he regains control of the House or Senate on the “I’ve Had It” podcast on Saturday.
“I believe that once we take power, there must be accountability,” said Khanna. “There needs to be accountability for Elon Musk. You know, they celebrate that he created 4,400 millionaires, but they don’t talk about the 4.5 million children around the world that he may have sentenced to death by disbanding USAID.”

Khanna continued, “He has to answer for that. He has to be called. He has to face an investigation. He has to answer for what he did with DOGE. [Department of Government Efficiency]. It’s not just ‘let’s move on.’
Musk responded to the story in an X post on Monday, where he wrote, “Time to impeach this liar.”
Musk also wrote and retweeted many comments attacking Khanna and his foundation that cuts to USAID led to the deaths of millions of children.

“Absolutely. This is a complete lie. All DOGE did was to contact the aid recipients to verify that the funds were being used legally. Anything less than this is insane! Many people from USAID have been charged with embezzlement by the Department of Justice. What’s more, THEY are guilty AGAIN!!” Musk wrote, linking to a 2025 Justice Department press release about the case of the former USAID official.
In another post, he wrote, “The standard used by the DOGE was very simple and easy: Give the contact information of the aid recipients, so we can make sure it’s not fraud. The truth is that the money was sent to corrupt politicians under the guise of aid! Liars and insider traders like Ro the Robber should be arrested!!”

He also repeatedly called Khanna a “robber,” accusing him of questionable stock trading practices.
In comments to Fox News Digital, Khanna’s representative pointed to a video the congressman posted retracting Musk’s post.

“Today, Elon Musk threatened to sue me, then asked the Department of Justice to put me in jail,” Khanna said. “That’s right. The richest man in the world spent all day tweeting, following me. Why? Because I cited an academic study that his DOGE cuts could lead to the deaths of millions of children overseas.”
He continued, “You know, Elon, I thought you were a liberal guy. Why don’t you confront me about these issues instead of threatening the law? You can’t scare me. I’m the guy who resisted Epstein’s class and worked with him. [Rep. Thomas] Massie to release the Epstein files. I’m the guy who stood up to AIPAC and declared genocide. And I’m the guy who stood up to the billionaires in my state who oppose me and still call for a wealth tax. So I will not be shocked or silenced.”
