Fans slammed “Euphoria” after the latest episode, saying the show reduced Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie to a repetitive cycle of “humiliation” that stalled her story.
HBO’s hit show has suffered further backlash after fans labeled the first few episodes of season three as shocking and “disturbing” content. After Sunday’s episode, fans criticized Sweeney’s character’s storyline and shocking scenes as repetitive, excessive and lacking a meaningful direction.
In episode four, Sweeney’s Cassie Howard appeared to take a break from her marriage to Nate Jacobs – played by Jacob Elordi – and fully embrace her OnlyFans career. Cassie showed up at a promoters party, where he kissed another girl and used drugs as a ploy to get attention online.
“Does anyone else get bored with Cassie’s culture of humiliation?” one user being asked online. “How else honestly? What will happen to his character without this? Where will his character go?”

“Cassie rubbing coke on her p—y too,” one user wrote while adding the video saying, “Really? so classless.”
“What the f—? This wasn’t on my bingo card for what she was going to wear,” one user wrote about Sweeney’s outfit for the party. “The way he looks is incredible.”
“Everyone is happy acting like they couldn’t get out of that contract except sydney sweeney seems to be happy worse,” said one user.

Meanwhile, others have praised Sweeney’s performance of Cassie as compelling and convincing. They say that the actor plays the role to the fullest and has done an outstanding acting job this season.
Another user wrote, “I can’t lie sydney can do something ! I thought Cassie was about to overdose for a second.”
“I hate how adorable sydney sweeney is in this season of euphoria,” one user wrote. “You eat that role.”
“Cassie chews up these fan-only scenes with no shade,” said user X.

Sweeney has faced criticism every week since premieres on April 12. Sweeney’s portrayal of Cassie revolves around the character’s desire to start an OnlyFans account to pay for the lavish wedding she’s planning.
“I have no words for Sydney, this incident [is] it’s actually bad,” user he wrote about the scene where Sweeney’s character pretends to be an “old kid” in his OnlyFans content.
Online viewers were quick to say that the show’s creator was “humiliating” Sweeney with the OnlyFans storyline.
