Fans blast Milwaukee Brewers over CC Sabathia’s strange Wall of Honor induction: ‘Disgraceful’

Before we begin, let me say this: I love CC Sabathia. As a Red Sox fan, I still have nightmares from his time with the Yankees. At times, he was an outstanding striker at the time. Just power on the mound, and a complete bulldog in terms of innings.

Sabathia was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame last year, and deservedly so. He had no sense.

All that being said … the Milwaukee Brewers’ induction of Sabathia on their wall of honor on Friday was met with … confusion.

For those who don’t follow all things Brewers baseball, Sabathia was put on the wall before Friday’s game against the Yankees. He got a shiny new plaque and all. It was a cool time.

All was well and good, except for one thing: CC Sabathia played in Milwaukee for half a season in 2008. He made 17 appearances. His one playoff start was poor.

Yes, he was amazing during the regular season stretch. In fact, it was one of the best pitches I’ve ever seen at the big league level.

But he did … 17 starts. And now you’re on the Wall of Fame? Which is strange. I thought it was weird. A quick check of social media showed that I’m not alone:

Where do we stand on this?

I could go on and on. There’s blood all over Elon’s social media app right now. Isn’t that always the case?

Where do we stand on this? Again, I love CC. This man was an elite pitcher for a long time back in the day. One could argue that his stretch in Milwaukee was one of the most memorable moves in MLB history. Seriously, it was what dominated.

LOOK at these numbers: 11-2, 1.62 ERA, seven complete games (!!!) and three shutouts.

And, you don’t see numbers like that anymore. He was the last of a dying breed. Just an animal on the mound.

Maybe that’s enough to land you on the Brewers Wall of Fame? I don’t know. The obvious elephant in the room is that he has only played for the team for three months. He started 17 games, missed the postseason, and headed to New York the following season.

Does that really prove the plaque and place on the wall? I don’t know. Kyle Schwarber’s run with the Red Sox in 2021 for half a season was excellent. He hit one of the most electrifying home runs in recent postseason memory in Game 3 of the ALCS against Houston.

Should he be on the Red Sox fictional Wall of Honor? There are plenty of examples of rental players doing amazing things for their temporary teams after the trade deadline.

Did anyone put in CC Sabathia’s numbers in Milwaukee? Probably not.

Does that warrant admission? That is up for debate.
