Former MSNBC anchor Joy Reid says she is no longer a New York Giants fan because Jaxson Dart introduced Trump.

Former MSNBC host Joy Reid says she can no longer root for the New York Giants after quarterback Jaxson Dart introduced President Trump on stage.

Reid first called Dart an “idiot” for using the word “happy” to describe meeting Trump.

“Nice to meet you, like what does that mean?” he started. “First of all, you’re an idiot. Okay, but what do you mean ‘enjoyed meeting the president?’ Like, is English your first language? What are you saying?”

DONALD TRUMP SLAMS JAXSON DART AFTER QB’S APPEARANCE AT EVENT MET CONTROVERSY

“You know, I was really disgusted as a Giants fan — before now — because the truth is, Donald Trump is not a normal president,” Reid told host Jack Cocchiarella. “Donald Trump is not the president of the United States. Donald Trump is a king who wants to be known. And we are celebrating the 250th anniversary of the separation of the king of England. And Donald Trump is trying to be king.”

Apparently, all the players committing violent crimes weren’t enough to sway Reid away from the Giants. It took a player to welcome Trump on stage.

Later in the speech, Reid touted the benefits of Dart for, you guessed it, white privilege.

“Sports have always been political and they’ve always been used as America, right? They love it when athletes represent America on the field or on the field and that’s what you have to do. If you wave the flag, that’s fine. If you challenge the flag or you challenge the state of the country, that’s a black singer’s problem,” said the black singer. And that’s for a black player.

“It’s always been that way. When Muhammad Ali says he’s not going to Vietnam, nobody asks, ‘Well, maybe we should let him investigate a little bit why we’re fighting in Vietnam.’ Instead, they just say he has no country and put him in jail. And so, you know, this has been the history of black athletes, really, from the beginning. The only way to be an acceptable Black athlete is to wave the flag again.”

Wait, what?

Muhammad Ali was undoubtedly greater than the sport, but to compare his Vietnam War protest and Dart simply to introduce a sitting president is quite a leap.

And if society was truly as hostile to Black athletes as Reid suggests, one would think there would be more scrutiny when athletes commit serious crimes, such as domestic violence, assault and reckless driving.

We also have to ask: When did Joy Reid become a Giants fan?

First, we’ve never heard him discuss the group before. More importantly, leaving a franchise because one player welcomed the president on stage seems like the worst reason to leave.

If being a sports fan requires every player on your favorite team to share your political views, there won’t be many teams left to support you.

As OutKick founder Clay Travis noted, there’s almost a “zero percent chance he’ll answer the basic questions in Giants fandom.”

Serious question: Can he even name the player who made the Helmet Catch against the Patriots in Super Bowl 2007? Doubt.

Still, it was probably wise for Reid to jump into the Dart fray, albeit a shame. Ever since MSNBC fired him in 2025, he’s been struggling to stay on the job.

Ethnic idolatry can be a very competitive field on the Internet to break into. Reid may need to mix it up a bit, as he did by announcing his departure from the Giants fandom.
