Fox News Channel did 3.2 million prime-time viewers during April to edge out broadcast networks ABC and NBC.

Although Fox News leads the free TV offering, it also continued to dominate cable with an average of 1.8 million daily viewers to finish No. 1 in the critical ratio. MS NOW finished second with an average audience of 751,000 total viewers to trail Fox News by more than a million viewers.

During the 8-11 pm weekday, Fox News averaged 2.9 million viewers to beat all of its competitors, with ESPN finishing second with 1.5 million, MS NOW with 1.3 million and TBS with 1.1 million.

CNN failed to crack the million viewer ratings in prime time as Fox News held nearly 60% of cable news between the day and prime time.

Fox News also crushed cable news networks among advertisers’ coveted 25-54 adult demographic, averaging 173,000 daily viewers compared to CNN’s 92,000 and only 80,000 for MS NOW. It was pretty much the same in the primetime, as Fox News averaged 284,000 viewers in the demo while CNN got 157,000 and MS NOW managed 135,000.

“The Five,” starring Dana Perino, Greg Gutfeld, Jesse Watters, Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford Jr., averaged 3.8 million viewers to finish as the No. 1 show on cable news, followed by “Jesse Watters Primetime,” “Hannity,” “Gutfeld!,” “Special Report with Bret Baier” and “The Ingraham.”

MS NOW’s most-watched program, “The Rachel Maddow Show,” averaged 2.4 million viewers to finish in seventh place. However, “Maddow” only airs on Mondays.
