Fraud investigation exposes Ilhan Omar’s district amid viral gaffe

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., has been grilled online for a crude video that has resurfaced of him misreading World War II as “World War Eleven” during a Capitol Hill news conference.
Omar, Somalia’s first member of Congress, made a mistake when he delivered his speech at a Democratic news conference last year about reintroducing the “No Neighbors Not Enemies Act.” The bill, which failed to pass, was intended to oppose President Donald Trump’s immigration policy, particularly his invocation of the Alien Enemies Act.
Congress was outraged that “the last time the Alien Enemies Act was used it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, and Italian immigrants during World War Eleven.”
He corrected himself quickly, said, “Wow, two,” and laughed again.
As Omar’s district faces increased scrutiny amid a major fraud investigation that largely involves the Somali immigrant community, the resurfaced clip is circulating online. Mistakes create ridicule, including Seni. Mike Lee, R-Utah, mocked Omar, saying, “‘World War Eleven’ … Yeah, that was deadly.”

In another post, Lee continued to take on Omar, sharing his mistake alongside another video calling Trump voters “idiots.” The video showed Omar saying, “It’s become very difficult to have an intellectual debate with any of these people,” and asserting that “the delusion of the United States has arrived, because how can we get a Trump presidency again?”
The video of Omar’s gaffe also got a reaction from Elon Musk, who posted a grimace emoji.
The popular conservative account “I Meme So I Am” posted, “He must have gotten his education from the Quality Learning Center.” The post referred to one of the alleged fraudulent Minneapolis daycare centers, which went viral due to a misspelling of its name on its sign that read “Quality Learning Center” instead of “Quality Learning Center.”
Chloe Cole, a conservative activist and prominent “detransitioner,” posted on X, “Absolutely appalled by this piece by Ilhan Omar calling World War II the ‘Eleventh World War.'”
“It’s a real learning curve. We’re learning like we’ve never learned before,” Cole wrote.

Conservative podcast host Matt Walsh responded, “God forbid we have World War 3, Ilhan Omar will think we’re in World War Eleven.”
“Consider the astronomical levels of stupidity on display here. Ilhan Omar doesn’t know how to read Roman numerals AND thinks there have been 11 world wars,” Walsh wrote in another X post. “Either of these would be a valid reason to remove him from office and send him back to Somalia. But both?”
Fox News Digital has reached out to Omar for comment.
This comes as the federal government’s investigation into alleged fraud rampant in Minnesota intensifies, with agents issuing search warrants at 22 locations, including day care centers allegedly involved. The raids, carried out on Tuesday morning, were the focus of a government investigation into mostly Somali-owned businesses, including childcare centers registered with the government but allegedly charging for care that was not provided.
Sources told Fox News that two raids were conducted at Quality Learning Center and Baby Halimo Child Care, in Minneapolis.

Omar has been highly critical of the government’s investigation. In a January interview with CBS News, Omar said Trump’s handling of the scandal “is hurting my people, and it’s creating the kind of chaos and confusion that nobody needs at this time.”

Speaking to Margaret Brennan, Omar said the Trump administration’s response to the fraud disclosure “creates a level of confusion and chaos that is unnecessary at a time when we are trying to deal with a big problem that needs serious people to be able to solve it.”
Omar continued, “We want to cooperate [sic] work with the administration to try to make sure that no fraud is committed in our country.” He added, “What we don’t want is the level of terrorism, confusion, chaos being created without consequences at this time.”
