Garmin expands running ecosystem with new Forerunner smartwatches, Garmin Pay, and Garmin Run Marathon series

Garmin continues to strengthen its commitment to the running community with integrated wearables that focus on performance, everyday life, and the global racing arena. This includes the introduction of Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 smartwatches, the launch of Garmin Pay in the Philippines, and the arrival of the Garmin Run Marathon Seriesin Manila.
Designed for runners, the Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 are designed to support both running performance and overall fitness. The smartwatches feature a bright AMOLED display, built-in GPS for tracking speed, distance, and routes, and wrist-based heart rate monitoring. The combination of touch screen and five button controls provides ease of use in all different training situations.
In addition to functionality, both models support multitasking with built-in sports apps, allowing users to track workouts such as cycling, strength training, and other fitness routines. This positions the Forerunner series as a tool not just for race preparation, but for life and performance.
The devices are supported by Garmin’s training ecosystem, including Garmin Coach’s flexible training plans and suggested daily workouts that are adjusted based on performance, recovery, and training load. Health and wellness features like sleep tracking, HRV status, and training readiness provide more insight into how the body responds to exercise and recovery, helping users train more consistently over time.
Battery performance is designed to support daily use and extended training, reducing the need for frequent charging. The Forerunner 170 also includes Garmin Pay contactless payments, allowing users to perform quick and secure tasks directly from their wrist, whether during or after a workout.
The Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170 series are available at all Garmin stores, online through Garmin’s official website, through Kinetic, and at Garmin’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok. The Forerunner 70 has a suggested retail price of PHP 15,990, while the Forerunner 170 is priced at PHP 19,290, and the Forerunner 170 Music at PHP 22,290.
Continuing to expand its ecosystem, Garmin has also introduced Garmin Pay in the Philippines, brings contactless payment capabilities to compatible Garmin smartwatches. The service is made available in partnership with GoTyme Bank and EastWest Bank, and is supported by global payment networks Visa and Mastercard. Garmin Pay allows users to make secure, click-and-go payments without the need for cash, phones, or wallets, supporting everyday life and active use.
Completing the ecosystem is Garmin Run Marathon SeriesGarmin’s global racing circuit built on international racing standards. Designed to bring together runners in all key cities, the series focuses on exchange, participation, and personal progress within the global running community.
The Garmin Run Marathon Series is supported by STARLUX Airlines, Shokz, and Ajinomoto’s Amino VITAL®.
In the Philippines, the series continues to strengthen following a strong showing in 2025, which brought together more than 8,000 runners and produced 24 podium finishers, highlighting the growing involvement of the local running community.
The Garmin Run Philippines will take place on Oct. 25, 2026 at the SM MOA Complex, featuring 5K, 10K, and 21K race sections. The event welcomes participants of all different levels – from those starting their running journey to experienced runners aiming for new personal goals. Registration for the Garmin Run Philippines is now open through official website.

The event will be supported by MYLAPS to provide accurate, professional-level tracking. As part of the global series, participants can also work towards winning a special, limited-edition 18K gold medal by completing 13 races in key participating cities that are part of the Garmin Run Marathon series in 2027.
“With the launch of the Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170, we continue to strengthen the way Garmin supports an active and connected lifestyle. By combining wearables, Garmin Pay, and the Garmin Run Marathon Series, we provide an ecosystem that supports performance, makes everyday life easier, and helps build a stronger running community,” said Skymin, Asia Regional Director, Skymin, Sky Chen.
