Joe Rogan says LA is becoming Detroit, slamming Newsom’s attitude

Podcaster Joe Rogan, a former California resident, criticized the state’s leadership during an interview with California-based comedian Tim Dillon on Wednesday.

As Rogan noted on his podcast that there are beautiful places in Pasadena that recall another era of American life, Dillon agreed, saying that’s a perfect way to describe the general feel of Los Angeles, saying, “Whatever it is, it’s not what it used to be. And the whole place looks like a museum or like it was cool 20 years ago or a museum.”

“You know, somebody just said this and it’s perfect. They said LA is slowly becoming Detroit,” Rogan responded. He went on to say that although the entertainment industry in LA was its leading industry, it “doesn’t make movies anymore.”

“They overtaxed and controlled their big industry in other states and other countries,” Dillon responded, saying the number of major motion pictures produced there has dropped dramatically.

“That’s a big difference,” Rogan said, criticizing the “arrogance” of statements “like ‘This is the best place in the world. Everybody’s going to come here no matter what. That’s Gavin Newsom’s attitude whenever he defends California.’

Rogan scoffed at Newsom’s speech touting California as an economic powerhouse, responding, “You start throwing out all these amazing numbers and it’s like admitting, ‘Yeah we have real problems.

“Instead, it’s just this, ‘We’re s—, I’m big in California, I’m bullish in California, it’s always going to be amazing here-‘” Rogan began.

“Well, that’s what the whole empire said until it fell, wasn’t it?” Dillon responded, later asking Rogan if he thought there was a chance LA could come back.

“Something has to happen,” Rogan said. “Something big has to happen. I mean there has to be something that completely changes the way LA looks at itself. You know, it has to look at itself as a viable business instead of a big nonprofit scam. A big part of LA’s problem is a lot of people in the charity industry.”

Dillon recalled stories he had seen in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where a casino owner had told him that overcrowding and social media had caused problems in the area, including crime, vandalism, and various other forms of disorder.

Newsom’s office mocked Rogan when he was found to have made a mocking comment about President Donald Trump, telling Fox News Digital, “JOE ‘LITTLE GUY’ ROGAN IS TOO CHICKEN TO GO ON HIS FAILING PODCAST BECAUSE YOU KNOW I’M GOING TO HIT HIM, SO YOU’RE TAKING CHEAP GUNS TO HUMBLE THE COUNTRY. IRRELEVANCE ALL TALK, NO ACTION I’M WELL WHEN YOU’RE HERE, ‘LITTLE BOY.’ OR KEEP HIDING!!!!”
