The Carolina Hurricanes reached the Stanley Cup finals again thanks to Jordan Staal’s two-goal night in Las Vegas defeating the Golden Knights in Game 4, 5-3.
The series now sits at 2-2 and Game 5 is set to return to Carolina’s Lenovo Center on Thursday to see who will have the edge in this crucial clash on the ice.
This game didn’t need extra time like the previous two, but it needed someone to break the 3-3 that went into the third period between these rivals.

With 13:39 left in Game 4, Shea Theodore made a bad turnover in the Golden Knights’ zone, and Hurricanes star Seth Jarvis picked it up in front of the net.
Fortunately for Vegas, Carter Harter stopped Jarvis’ backhand, but the threat has not been avoided yet. Jarvis fought to get the puck back in front, and it ended up on the stick of Nikolaj Ehlers, who tried to flip it past Staal.

Staal lost some edge on his skate, but that didn’t stop him from hitting a backhand shot toward the net. It went right past Hart, and Staal was buried on the ice. He became the first player in 44 years to score in each of the first four games of the Stanley Cup Final.
The way these games were going, a one-goal lead was not safe. However, at this time, Storms had to defend and save when Brandon Bussi, who head coach Rod Brind’Amour went over Frederik Anderson, and the decision paid off.
The Golden Knights took 20 shots on goal, and Bussi had 7 for the first time on the ice for Carolina in the series. And Ehlers got the win when he smartly put the puck out of his own net with an empty net on the other end that went into the net for a 5-3 win.

The Hurricanes came out roaring in the first half as well, scoring three goals against the Golden Knights of captain Mark Stone. Logan Stankoven got his 11th of the qualifiers 1:06 into the game. Jackson Blake quickly followed with a goal assisted by Taylor Hall and Ehlers.
Then, Staal’s first goal of the game came at 12:48 on the power play. Shayne Gostisbehere had a shot on goal, and after Hart made a save, Staal was the first to get the puck and a clear shot in front of the goal.
With a 3-1 lead after the first 20 minutes, the Hurricanes had to feel good. But again, no lead is safe, and Vegas reminded them of that in the second half.

William Karlsson brought Vegas closer with his third goal of the playoffs, and Brett Howden, adding to his Conn Smythe Trophy case, scored 14 to tie it at three.
Ultimately, Staal’s heroics with the Hurricanes are why he has the “C” on his jersey.
