MSNBC’s former left-wing host, Joy Reid, during a March 13 interview that former Vice President Kamala Harris should not run for president again, said that the US would never again elect a woman to the office of president.
“One54” host Akbar Gbajabiamila asked Reid if he thinks Harris should run for president again.
“I hope he doesn’t run again. I don’t think he should,” Reid replied. “I think there is – she’s a lovely person. I think there are good ways she can serve. I don’t think the United States will choose a woman in my life.”
Reid – whose MSNBC show was canceled in February 2025 before the network’s name was changed to MS NOW – also said that in order for Harris to defeat President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, he needs to distance himself from former President Joe Biden’s Middle East policy.

“I think that in order for him to win last time — and you know, this is not something I would say to him personally — he had to take a big step in Joe Biden’s Middle East policy,” Reid said. “His policies against Israel and Gaza were an abomination and a stain on his presidency. And his association with that is still something that causes him to protest everywhere he goes.”
“He has to take a big step … if he runs away again, he will have to abandon Biden in Israel-Gaza,” he continued. “That’s the only way he could do it. And he’s so honest, I don’t know if he can do that.”
Harris’ office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Reid’s view on a female president follows similar comments from former first lady Michelle Obama, who said as late as 2025 the US was not ready to elect a female president.
Obama pointed to Harris’ loss specifically as a reason why the country is not ready.

Harris suggested he might run for president again during an interview in February.
Podcast host Sharon McMahon asked Harris if he would run again after losing to Trump.
“I haven’t decided yet,” Harris replied.
“Still thinking about it?” McMahon asked.
“I might,” Harris replied.

McMahon added that the impression he got from Harris’ recent memoir “107 Days,” which focuses on his failed 2024 presidential campaign, is that he “wants” to run again. Harris stressed that it was not his intention to suggest another campaign.
